This is an interesting list.
First live show: Ozzfest '99. First band I saw: Static-X, playing Push It.
Last show you attended: Strapping Young Lad @ HOB Sunset Strip. Awesome show man. Also, I need to get more of these Reflux guys I heard there.
A show you're looking forward to in the future: The next Tool tour (whenever that is).
Best show you've ever seen: Hard to say. Heaviest: SYL @ The Galaxy (the opening acts were intense, and SYL ... well, SYL rocks my hairy anus [in joke]). Most fun: Local H @ The Galaxy (when the guitarist gets drunk and wanders around the pit barrier ... it's all good). Most orgasmic: Tool @ Irvine Meadows (it's Tool ... on the Lateralus tour. Yeah, spiral out).
A live act that disappointed you: The Deftones at the first Ozzfest. Of course, they're were on between Slayer and Rob Zombie, which was stupid. But it really didn't hit me, or the crowd (they started throwing sod after that).
Most embarassing show you've attended: Hanson concert. But I think Taylor Hanson's wife hit on me.
Bands/musicians you met that were jerkoffs: Never met any really.
Bands/musicians you met that ruled: Haven't really hung out with any. My cousin, to be sure. And Ben, too. Ben rules.
Bands/musicians you would like to meet: Devin Towsend. That might be the funniest conversation I'll ever have. Also Maynard.
Bands you've traveled to see in other cities: I guess I've only really gone to LA to see SYL and my friends @ The Whiskey. But I suppose I did travel to Tulsa with the ulterior motive to see my cousin's band (Merkaba, they're pretty cool). Tragically, their drummer got in a wreck and wasn't able to play, so it was a lot of noodling. Their opening act was pretty good though (can't remember the name ... just a local Tulsa band).
Favorite venue: I did the Galaxy, actually. Small, intimate, good atmosphere.
Have you ever had a serious injury while attending a show?: Nope.
Band you've seen live that you can't wait to see again: SYL.
Band that you haven't seen yet that you can't wait to see: The Devin Towsend Band. A Perfect Circle. The Mars Volta (yes, I missed the Long Beach Arena show. I'm annoyed).
Band you'll never get to see live that you wish you had the chance: At the Drive-In (because I don't pay enough attention), Rage Against the Machine.
Most expensive show you've ever attended: The Ozzfest tickets ran $45-50 after Ticketmaster fees.
Strangest concert experience: I dunno ... the Local H show was pretty strange. The banter from their singer/guitarist, the girl from the crowd with the perfectly timed rimshot to a joke, the laid back atmosphere. But awesome
Do you enjoy going to shows alone?: Y'know, I never have.
Favorite local band(s): Taint (because, well, I guess?)
Biggest surprise from an opening band you never heard before: Nebula, opening for Local H. The second band was crap, I mean, like horrible, ear splittingly bad crap. Then this riff starts ... just a guy wailing on a guitar. And I think "man, someone's having a fun sound test", and boom, this three piece band comes on stage, and just rocks. I mean AC/DC power with fucking Van Halen chops. It was awesome.
Band you wish you had paid more attention to when you saw them because you ended up liking later on: Primus, Ozzfest '99. Woulda been able to understand the act a helluva lot better.
Band you've seen the most times: I've seen SYL twice, Slipknot twice, Ozzy twice (if you count Black Sabbath)...
Bands you liked growing up: I didn't listen to anything other than my mother's oldies until I heard "Bad Habit" by The Offspring when I was about 12. Then it was Offspring, Green, Presidents (man, I liked that self-titled albums of theirs...), then the Metallica phase hit.
When did you start getting into music?: Junior high. All it took was "you stupid dumb shit goddamn MOTHER FUCKER".
First band you really got into: The Offspring
Band you have liked the longest: Weird Al? Otherwise, The Offspring (again, "Bad Habit").
Band you are embarassed to admit you like: Linkin Park. Infectious hooks that don't all sound exactly the same to me (*cough*Nickelback*cough*).
Most embarassing genre phase you went through: I was all about the nu-metal for a while (Static-X, Godsmack, Slipknot, etc.) ... but it's not that embarassing. Sometimes I still put on Slipknot when I want to punch walls.
Band you used to like a lot that you don't like anymore: Godsmack, Coal Chamber, Static-X ... the nu-metal bands previously mentioned.
First album you ever bought with your own money: The Offspring, Smash. (or was it Green Day's Dookie? I honestly can't remember).
Are there any bands/albums your parents wouldn't let you listen to growing up? My parents were pretty laid back, so I tended to have my own way with music (this doesn't mean they didn't make me turn it down).
Album(s) that rules all the way through: Albums are my defining musical unit. Good songs are for mp3s, but good albums are a rare beauty. The most coherent album I've ever heard is Radiohead's OK Computer. Not a bad song on that, and it's best experienced as a whole. Tool albums are also the same way (well, Aenima and Lateralus). Recently, bands like The Mars Volta are carrying the torch.
Song you wish you knew all the words to: Words didn't ever mean too much to me ... but I really need to get around to learning all of Die Toten Hosen's "Ein Kleine Jaegermeister". Einer für alle, alle für einen ...
Song people wouldn't expect you to like: I dunno ... I have some guilty pleasure bands, but they're well advertised. Maybe my appreciation for John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and the like.
Most you've paid for a cd/record: $20, prolly.
Favorite record store: I've been partial to The Noize for a while ... and they just moved to the Uni center, which is cool.
Best find: I bought a Longfellow CD for $2 that I thoroughly enjoyed. Also, finding Strapping Young Lad online one day was a brilliant turn in my musical appreciation career.
An elusive or hard to find album that you can't seem to get your hands on: I'm not that out there. Things are easy enough to find.
Sexy song: I don't know, but I know its something by Garbage.
Favorite love song: I guess I don't listen to a lot of love songs. Um, "Stinkfist"?
Favorite breakup song: "I Remember", by Stabbing Westward. Dunno why, it's just sad.
Lyric that describes you:
Last song you like to hear before you fall asleep: Moonlight Sonata (no, seriously).
Album that reminds you of summer: Reel Big Fish, Turn The Radio Off.
Album that reminds you of winter: Opeth, Blackwater Park (going to have to agree with Ben on this one)
Album that reminds you of spring: The Offspring, Ixnay on the Hombre
Album that reminds you of fall: Metallica, Metallica [The Black Album]
Song that reminds you of being in grade school: Something by Simon and Garfunkel.
Song that reminds you of being in high school: Slipknot, Slipknot
Song that makes you (want to) cry: The Verve Pipe, "Freshman". Saddest song ever.
Song that was "your song" with a significant other: Goo Goo Dolls, "Iris", *skip*, Stabbing Westward, "Angel"
Band you wish you were in: The Foo Fighters. I posit that Dave Grohl is the best musician in rock now (as least in terms of writing ability).
Favorite cover song: Tool, "No Quarter" (covering Led Zeppelin). I'm also partial to Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday".
Song you like to sing in the shower: I don't sing in the shower. I can only sing with backing music.
Song that reminds you of being little: "Me and Bobby McGee", Kris Kristofferson (my mother listened to him a lot).
Last song you heard today: A Perfect Circle - "Judith"
Song you like a lot at the moment: I'm digging on Cheap Trick's "Surrender" for some reason.
Song you would make a homemade music video for: Dunno.
Band you own the most albums by: Over time? Metallica. Currently? Hrm ... Radiohead. I have them all except Kid A (and I lost that one :( ).
Do you listen to the radio?: Nah.
Favorite music video: Easy. "Smack My Bitch Up", Prodigy. Best video ever.
Have you ever had a song written about you?: I hope not.
Have you ever had a song dedicated to you?: I hope not.
Are you/have you ever been in any bands (real or fake)?: Yeep. Rock Project, baby.
Have you ever gone on tour?: Heh, I wish.
If yes, where?:
Favorite vocalist(s): Maynard James Keenan, Devin Towsend, Shirley Manson
Favorite drummer(s): Danny Carey, Gene Hoglan, Taylor Hawkins (to a point)
Favorite guitarist(s): I haven't thought about this question in a long, long time. Jimmy Page is on the list. But ... damn, dude. I can't think of who really stands out. I'll make a post about this later.
Favorite bassist(s): Les Claypool.
Favorite decade for music: The 90's were pretty damn good (at least, 1991-1996). The 70's also produced some great rock.
Favorite dead musician:
Favorite misheard lyric: I always thought the end of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was Cobain repeating "Bloody Nile" (instead of the real "a denial")
Favorite Beatle: McCartney?
Best album cover: Hmm...RATM's self-titled album is pretty fucking poetic.
Favorite soundtrack: "The Matrix"
Favorite TV theme song: Clone High's is catchy, but I'll go with ...
Best Wesley Willis song: Casper The Homosexual Friendly Ghost.
