What a difference a handful of years will make. I'm married now, have a beautiful daughter, a black president nearing reelection, electricity in spite of Hurricane Sandy, and a life appreciated. Peace is a poor excuse for defeat.
I came across this video on poetv.com. And it really highlights a lot of the sentiments of "us versus them" that are evident in America and Europe today. At any given moment, I feel as though this is a country on the verge of civil unrest. In New York alone, it's easy to notice just how much of a powder keg the state is. I underestimate ignorance. It's the ugliest, vilest creature that we can muster up from the gutters of our souls. Partly because ignorance invites strife, misunderstanding, disharmony, and, ultimately, suffering.
