Dolly crisis: introducing Ellie, my first resin BJD

Dec 17, 2011 21:37

I realize I've been MIA for a while again over here... I'm going through a bit of an identity crisis when it comes to dolls. About a month ago I took the plunge: I wanted to go for a resin BJD. My boyfriend ordered an Asleep Eidolon Blueberry MSD girl for me as a gift for Christmas and our 3-year anniversay at once. I saw a Blueberry in real life ( Read more... )

I think I understand your doll crisis somewhat..only I have Monster High fever. ^_^ I used to love my Barbies, but not so much anymore. I have never had a resin doll or a Pullip or an Obitsu. I have some Takaras and two cool girls.

I have to second you about Barbies. They were my first love (all the non-Barbies, like Kira, Teresa, Midge, etc) but now I'm on a Monster High kick. I also 3 Moxie Teenz girls, but ever since getting excited about MH and MT I'm just.. not as enthused about Barbies. They're on my shelves but they're not a shopping priority by far.

It's funny how things change like that. I will probably keep my Barbies, because they are the superhero ones. As you said they aren't a shopping priority anymore.

It's weird how things can change right? But I now realize that I never loved my big Obitsus and my Pullips the way I love Ellie. She's around me all the time. It's... different. I don't know. I'm in the process of selling my other dolls actually, except those that were gifts...
The only dolls I know for a fact that I'll never fall out of love with, are my vintage 6" Pamela Love dolls. I have over a 100 of those and they're a precious thing from my childhood. I'll never let those go :)

She's adorable!

I've been thinking of resin for future dolls. Not yet (money's super tight) but in a year or two. What are they like? How do they feel, in comparison to regular vinyl dolls?

They feel... I don't know, just different. Soft and smooth. Resin is a beautiful type of material if you ask me. I love "handling" her, no matter how wrong that sounds, haha.

I'm on a bit of a high right now... I never had a lot of money either, but I graduated last Summer and I've been working as a primary school teacher since, but since they made a mistake with my paychecks the past few months, I'll get like $2000 back in about a week... It's insane... Need.Dolls.Badly lol!

Thank you! She is, I'm still getting to know her though. And I love the look and feel of resin so much, I can't stop looking at her and touching her lol :D

Sounds familiar, the dolls from when we were little girls still mean a lot... In fact there's a little Pam bed on eBay at the moment, which I've wanted to have ever since I was young but it was never sold in the Netherlands. Gotta love eBay... hope I get it. Auction ends tomorrow!

(My 100+ dolls will be fighting over it, lol!)
