i, myself, would not take that bet. as being alive is more important then the banana that is, as you said, of no more importance then usual.
take the coin out.. put in a revolver. six chambers, one bullet. you pull the trigger once. you live and you win $1,000,000,000. you die and (i like your idea) your death doesnt negatively impact anyone.
would you?
or.. on an even more intriguing... or maybe not intriguing but even more appalling note. for an endless amount of money, or anything you want at that, would you have intercourse with your father.
most people would say no immediately, but you cosmo.. the same person i saw humping a bible, in an asian mans hotel room, at the horseshoe casino in shreveport... you might just ponder that thought for a good while.

If it was okay with him, I would.
However, you may wish to consider the difference between dying and ceasing to exist. The implication is that in the multi-universe model that some physicists are thinking in terms of right now, it is thinkable that, although it is exceedingly unlikely that you would survive, you would continue to experience reality in one of the universes in which you survive the bet and have a banana. So either you're (we all are) immortal, or at least will live to the maximum possible age, or you don't exist, which can't be too bad.

indeed. being part (or not) of a multiverse in which i do not exist is just as appealing (har har) as being in one eternally with a banana. as a matter of fact, this has inspired me to eat a banana (while i contemplate my desire for non-being.)

We can keep going and say that you already aren't, you just think you are. Or is it that even if you were to not-be, then for there to even be a state of non-being, then there must also be a state of being, making you immortal again? I forget...
