Sweet mother of Christ, my mother just went to Christmas Eve Mass and SANTA CAME and GAVE OUT PRESENTS. What??? I'm sorry, it's not like there's an underexposure of Santa at Christmas time but there is a distinct lack of Jesus in the modern-day version, so if there's one place you would expect to be traditional and ceremonial and beautiful with the ( Read more... )

Apparently Santa BROUGHT THE BABY JESUS WITH HIM. Yeah, those children are going to be confused for years.

Oh my god. That's just...so many layers, so twisted. I mean, it's like they're not even pretending their's a difference between the Church of Christ and the Church of Capitalism....

I bet even now that priest is being 'removed' for accidentally laying bare the conspiracy.

All I can say is Jesus, Mary and Joseph (which, coincidentally, is all that belongs at the Christmas Eve mass).

Okay.

And lambs.

But Jesus, Mary, and Joseph are the only big names on the marquee, ('cause you gotta have shepherds, and the inn keeper, and Gabriel and the heavenly choir).

Every year, I get this urge to start a movement in the western world, whereby Santa decides to start visiting on December 6 (which is Nicholas's feast day, anyhow).

That would be so much better! We'd all get our presents *and* we could have Christmastime, but with the love and the goodwill and the lights and cheeriness and much less of the stress and hassle! Cindy, if you made that your campaign promsie (and I lived in America and was an American citzen and it wasn't a close election where I needed my vote to defeat some candidate of Evil) and ran for President, I would vote for you! You can't say fairer than that.
