I am just back from my second ballet class ever. I don't think ballet looks like it should hurt but man, it really does. It was awesome though! I couldn't do anything, but I had lots of fun and got a wee bit better. Hurrah!

I did it for nine years and I can vouch for the fact that it's about as hardcore as it gets.

I've been thinking about getting back into for a while now, so you may just inspire me to take it up again. Keep it up - believe me, it's really worth it!

Do it do it do it! I wish I'd gone when I was wee. I'd love to have some residual ability to be calling on. And it's so weird to go into an adult class when I'd only ever been aware of kids' ones. 60-year-old women doing ballet = inspiring.

I'm mainly doing it because I miss the flexibility I had with gymnastics but I'm too old now to be doing all the flinging-myself-through-the-air stuff that that entails. I wanted something that a) takes discipline but isn't academic and b) will help me improve my awareness of my body (because my posture is shit). I do seem to have found it. The fact that I could feel my legs praying for death getting more toned with every fresh torture new exercise is quite awesome too.

To be fair, because I've never done it before the class is mainly the teacher going "and now we will do pas de chat, jete, pirouette, dance of the grapefruit, arabesque, point, close, open, fly" and everyone else leaping off like gazelles while I go "What? What??" But I have faith this will pass in time.

I am also loving the excuse to buy pink legwarmers. "I need them for dance class." Aye, bollocks I do.

Heh. You should be rocking the legwarmer look up there in freezing parts.
