the ladder has some footing if the next move can be swift enough and the farmer can convice those that run the market that they should take away the apples he wants to get rid of, the ones that are rotton on the inside and not nessisarily those rotton on the outside.

Standing upon the ladder in which to get the apples from the tree top. the ladder wobbles below your feet yet, unconsciously ignoring the warning. the ladder continueing to wobble starts to fall over and the farmer knows that even his next move can;t keep the ladder upright. with his next move there will only be confirmation of the outcome.

A positive attitude is a defense mechanism and a sign of denial, to admit your fears.
