Adam wants to go look at this. I took one look at the kitchen and said HELL NO. It's also out of our price range. But he wants to look at it. I don't like this house at all.

I still can't get my head around wooden houses :/
I like it, despite the 'inside grandad's shed' style kitchen... maybe if the planks were horizontal instead of vertical.

There is a beautiful brick house in the neighborhood. Alas, it is not up for sale.

'Inside grandad's shed' HA!

I like the kitchen. I would have more of a problem with the yard, in that there doesn't seem to be one.

I didn't want to look at the house we bought in Iowa because it looked so ugly from the street and from the pictures. But when we went in, it was much nicer than I thought it would be.

I know pictures can lie. But yeah, there seems to be no yard. Who knows? But it's out of our price range. And I don't want to pay more for a house that I don't LOVE. Of course.... we'll see?

Oh right, I overlooked the price issue. That part does matter.

Really???

???

Sure the upper bedroom floor is nice. We drove by it twice tonight. I'm still not feeling it. The exterior needs serious paint.

Unless you have natural timber shingles on the outside, you're going to have to paint the place every so many years anyway, so that's just a part of home ownership. I can remember painting the house probably once every four or five years when I was young. I was also responsible for scraping old layers of paint off. We also had window shutters, and there is no hell as bad as scraping pealing paint off of louvered shutters. You *could* have the whole thing sand-blasted and then paint the whole thing again, but you're still in for another paint job in a number of years. (I'm a big fan of natural timber shingles, or clapboards, which are relatively common on Cape Cod, where one otherwise has to put on a new coat *every* year ( ... )

At first I was like, oh, not bad, not bad....then I got to the kitchen. LOLOLOL. Sorry, that is the ugliest kitchen ever.

The room after that looked gorgeous though (looked like an upper room with lots of natural light and a wood burning stove of some kind?).

The sellers are definitely doing themselves no favors with that kitchen. Makes me itch to get out a big pot of white paint. Or visit Ikea.
