Concerning my previous post, "irony" or distance, where I referenced something that Chris Lehrich said, I found the exact passage here:

More good stuff. I miss Chris, both online and IRL.

Jared Sorensen had good stuff to say about what makes funny games funny, and it was this same disconnect. IE, the humor doesn't live in the game world or out of it, but in the distance between the players and the PCs.

Er, I didn't mean to make it sound like Chris had passed away or something. I just moved away and he had kids and stopped blogging/foruming, is all.

One of the main places where almost every role-playing theory discussion goes seriously wrong is when a person decides that they know what other people are "really" doing better than the people actually doing it do. It's the point where people stop listening and start lecturing.
