Pinochle! I have heard of it. Never new how to play it or spell it till now. Well not now, really, but I have a better idea of how. It sounds a bit like bridge, my mother used to love bridge. She used to invite friends and colleagues for bridge nights, and I got to play from time to time and I wasn't even ten.
Love the snippets of conversation. This is such a lovely, heartwarming piece.
You're lucky for having that. When I was younger my mom tried to get me into Mahjong (yup there's a card version) but it never stuck. Memories do exist though... although her real game of choice ever was Scrabble.
It must make family engagements fun to really tests brains like that.
I did learn Poker as a teen but well... the memories there, the only good association is being taught, everything after is bad.
