Awww Julian Barnes indeed.

I don't think I could ever do that. I'm no snob by any means, but if a writing style irrates me I find the irritation seeping into the plot and characters very soon; same the other way round, if the plot is shitty but the style is interesting, I soon start hating the style too.

I've only read Talking It Over before, definitely need more Barnes. Awww, again.

Heh, I think I like being irritated now and then, but I see what you mean. I usually feel the same way.
