Ooooh. You mean it's your FIRST Ghibli movie? Oh, I envy you. Find Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke. Believe it or not, these are BETTER. And there are more. Hayao Miyazaki is a prolific director, and there are other movies (such as the Cat Returns) dirrected by other people from his studio, that are almost as good as his.

Oh, completely oblivious to Anime I was. :D

I had heard about Spirited Away and thought I might check it out. I take it all these movies are available on DVD at present? I'll get them from my local DVD rental place. I must admit, if Howl's Moving Castle is a not very good example of these types of films, I probably will end up loving them. Anything whimsical, fantastical and totally unrelated to reality is right up my alley in terms of entertainment.

All the ones I mentioned are available on DVD in the US. I don't know what the distribution deal for Australia is, but presumably, since you're closer to Japan, they'll be there, too.

Sadly, I can't think of any non-Studio Ghibli produced Anime that doesn't appeal mainly to the inner teenage boy, but you'll like Miyazaki and his crew. Here's a filmography.

I do highly recommend it. It's lots of fun and nothing offensive or disturbing.
