Sheesh, I wish they'd stop changing the layout of LJ. I keep losing myself every time they do it ( Read more... )

That does seem odd.

Funny how many guys say they can't stand them. Usually the comment is, "ugly" but I think that's generally just a cover for their embarassment. In Australia, guys who are modest or sensitive about these things are given a bit of a hard time. I think there are a lot of times guys don't want to participate but are almost shamed into it by their peers.

Erm. That seems... interesting, to say the least. And it seems quite difficult to imagine a Never-Ending-Story-themed strip show (I've never seen Labyritnh, so I can't say anything about that :P). But whatever.

Still, I don't think this says anything your own taste (or mine, for the matter.) I guess that maybe, to make things different/more interesting, the owners of a strip place thinks of film themed shows. And, just as you've seen the sci-fi show marathon, maybe in a few weeks they'll do a Mafia one, with shows about The Goodfather and such. And they might even do a Harry Potter one. *shudders* Who knows.

And now, in the name of Nostalgia, here you have something raven22 and myself have been revisiting today:

Could I have a Chocoffee delight with some TimTams and a chocolate wand, please?

Birthdays at the Magic Beans Coffee Shop...

Awwww! That was so much fun! Thanks for those links. I really enjoyed that trip down memory lane. I could see why I have such great memories of MBCS and FAP when there were still House threads. Goodness, Sabrina was a bit tempremental wasn't she? Still, she was a great girl and she did create a wonderful thread for us to have fun in.

There are days on LJ when I really miss the FAP days. I still am in contact with so many people from over there but a lot of the friendships have changed and are not as much fun - they're starting to fray. RL, I guess. But not the MBCS regulars!

I still remember MBCS as such a cosy, friendly, happy place and I can see it clearly in my mind as I imagined it - lead paned windows, cushy armchairs, fireplace, etc.

I'll have my usual chocolate chunk cookies and a raspberry hot chocolatte, thanks.

I miss it, too. I don't even lurk around FAPark anymore, and almost everyone I used to know back there is here on LJ now... But I still miss the House Common Rooms, the ships I used to visit, the 'Where are you from?' thread and, of course, MBCS.

It was so much fun, to create all those drinks and to imagine we were in this nice, cosy coffee place.

... And I just had an idea. Wouldn't it be fun to create a Magic Beans Coffee Shop here on LJ? I know it would never be the same, but maybe we could have events as the ones we did back then: hold poetry readings, movie nights (in which we could review whatever film we arrange to watch), occasional parties, "homework help", and of course nice chit-chatting about anything. Not to mention the spiffing, uberdelicious food and drink ;) What do you think?

Sounds like a great idea but because of time differences over here (and work!), I wouldn't be able to run it although I'd be happy to help. I think if we let all the old regulars know, they'd drop by. I know I'd be there in my regular armchair!

Those are rather cult movies, so attract the folks on the fringes of society...some of whom are perfectly sane and healthy and prefer the fringes for good reasons, others pushed there because of their dysfunctions and incapable of or denied meaningful relationships. And the latter, I'd figure, turn to pornography more avidly than most. There was a report not long ago that almost every child molester's home raided in some precinct out west had Star Trek material of some sort.

That sounds absolutely spot on to me. I feel comforted by the thought that I could never get into Star Trek. :D
