The subtle difference(s) between lupine wind chimes and clouds that resemble bunnies.

Well, as usual, I'm slow on the uptake (or, more accurately, slow on the update). Whereas all my other college friends have been busy posting about how they're home already, I've been sitting around shirking my LJ responsibilities for the past few days despite the fact that I now have a perfectly good internet connection at my permanent address ( Read more... )

If I remember, the Division of Lifelong Learning also paid dividends to the University itself, as it is like an indentured servitude contract that never gets completed. Somehow they get people to pay off college debts by continuing at the university, but they are required to keep taking courses, and that adds to the debt as fast as it can be paid off. Graduation ceremonies are a way of bestowing false hope and securing harder work.

Well, that sounds like an open and shut university agenda to me... I looked into it online and as far as the "courses" go, they generally consist of a group of students sitting in a classroom with nothing to do, being monitored by one of the faculty. Any time one of the students tries to take a sip of coffee or answers a cell phone, the professor hits them over the head with a blunt object and says, "what did you learn?"

You're just trying annoy everyone with your sill teasers. What a pain in the ass. But then, that's hardly news, huh?
At least you're taking Jack Sparrow's advice and waiting for the opportune moment.

I thought about making a Jack Sparrow reference in reference to my Jack Sparrow reference, but I decided it wasn't redundant enough. Thankfully, I have redeemed myself.

The teaser isn't much of a teaser anyway since most of the people on my friends list know exactly what the bit of news is already. But I for one know you aren't seeing the news coming from a mile away. The distance between our respective towns is more like 1000+ miles.
Be sure to bug wisedanichi about trying my graduation idea himself... it'll distinguish him as an upper echelon doctoral candidate! Just don't spray him with coffee if he does so.

Er, ok, won't even be able to until doctoral graduation in over five years from now.
Also, town-to-town distance was an estimated 1890 miles according to travel log, for general information purposes.

I thought you were going to your students' graduation? It's not too late to have your cap and gown sent to you. Here's another good idea, now that I think of it... you should totally go to graduation in your cap & gown, just don't march. Sit in the seats with the parents and keep asking people if you're in the right place. Damn, why do I get all these ideas after my own graduation....
