Monkeys wearing shoes, dogs wearing underpants

After a serious drought in the sea of employment opportunities, I've resorted to fast food and am comforted only by the fact that I've been able to start working in May so the month hasn't been a total waste. Today's pay was $28... minus tax... and minus the cost of my uniform. However, I'm confident that a paycheck in the near future will in ( Read more... )

Incoherent = pretty well?
I suppose it's a good thing for anyone reading my LJ since they're not subject to the usual, semi-coordinated and lengthy babble and instead get the easy to skim variety... but I'm not watching the fat content of my diet so I prefer 1 1/2% to skim on taste alone.

If life had a fast forward button, you'd end up missing little moments. However, sometimes it would be nice to skip all the boredom and waiting.

Arby's... probably the least vile fast food place I can think of... and I was very glad not to see any training videos for this job. Normally the asenine videos are unavoidable- I've heard of them in the post office, and had to watch some for both a grocery store and security work. This time, however, my fears of a cartoon oven mitt lecturing me on how to make sandwiches were unfounded. The best part is, now I can make something up if anyone asks me what the training is like there! I might have to write my own script for an asenine video now....

*has flashbacks to McDonald's and Hilltop*
The worst part for me is if the restaurant video acts like you should stay there for the rest of your life, like the arches did. I remember one of the employees who actually did, she was a warped, frustrated old crone.
At least the hard-boiled food safety detective was unintentionally funny.

I'm in Portland... would have stayed in the Orono area if there were jobs, if I had housing, and/or if I was taking classes. Guess I'll have to wait until September or so if I want to bug you or others up there, unfortunately. But here's hoping you're doing well!
