Well... THAT didn't go as I planned.
Last Sunday I went up to Orono with my two suitcases all packed and ready to go to Honduras. I felt a little reluctant when packing, but I chalked it up to laziness. I spent as much time with faechylde as possible and was feeling okay until about Monday night. That's when my brain refused to shut up. I kept thinking ( Read more... )

Lo siento, but you know, there's something to be said about trusting your instincts. I hope this works out for the better and that it turns out to be a good semester afterall. We're all here for you if you need to talk! Te amo y buena suerte.

I know you're around... really! I saw Joel in the Union on Wednesday and he reminded me, too. I'll be on campus again this weekend and as long as faechylde is feeling well and isn't busy, I'll remember to call you up.
Of course, you should probably e-mail me your cell phone number because I don't have a fancy address book gizmo like my future wife.

I would credit no other person with having a better chance of having correct instincts than you. You always had that kind of wolf-pack foresight going on. You did well to listen to your gut feeling even when it meant that things would be seemingly more difficult. Good for you.

And hell, you`ll recover from this. You think a guy who`s a rare member of the wise men is going to just lie down and take it? No sir. You`ll bounce right back.

Ha ha! Thanks for the much needed laugh. I'm not just a rare member of the wise men, I'm a PROUD member of the wise men. In fact, here's some late wisdom to share: "I wish I was fit as a fiddle, because then I'd be made of wood."
I didn't always have the best connection with my instincts but I've definitely learned to listen to them more. When the inner coyote growls these days, I hear it, and it definitely wasn't happy about the situation I described.
*Still* haven't heard from my professor, but I did hear from my main connection in Honduras, and all is forgiven as far as she's concerned. IMO, that matters a lot more than what the prof. thinks.
