Shake that snowglobe!

With any luck, my arduous job search in Portland will soon be coming to an end. Bank of America has offered me a job at one of their call centers and I can start training at the end of the month.

The only catch: the call center is in Belfast (Maine, not Northern Ireland).

So, the job hunt has swiftly transitioned into an apartment hunt! faechylde and I ( Read more... )

I'd say Belfast is roughly 45 minutes from Bangor. Or Brewer at least. Generally I hate driving more than 25 minutes to get to anything, usually don't do it. But someone a little more determined might make it 45 minutes to fencing and such.. meow >^_^< .

45 minutes from Brewer sounds about right. I was basing my estimate on all of my trips from Orono to Bucksport (Fort Knox and fencing-related trips and carpools), so I guess that was a little skewed.

What I'm wondering is, what's not in Belfast that I'll have to drive to Bangor for? I'll probably find out the hard way.

Hm, that makes it my turn to get in on this whole job-having. At least with a bank as an employer, you know they have money to pay people with, and if they say otherwise you can call them on it.

And come to think, a Bank of America anything in Northern Ireland, or somewhere other than America, would be difficult to explain on its own.

Technically, I'm going to be working in the credit card department of the company. Therefore, they should be giving me an annual salary via minimum monthly paychecks, plus extra wages based on a variable interest rate that fluctuates depending on what's coming out for the Wii that month.

If you need a third roommate, I have a friend, Adele, who is also looking to move to the area, I believe. She's a conservative Christian, if you think you could get along. Very quiet ( ... )

We're not looking for a roommate this time around since faechylde and I haven't had the chance to live by ourselves, in a place of our own since we got married and we're both eager to start doing so. We've found it hard to fully relax and be a couple without that kind of total privacy... "three's a crowd," actually true in this case.

I can see why Scott's aunt would be fed up with being a landlady, BUT we could provide her with the names and phone numbers of our past landlords and roommates as references if you think it'd change her mind. I haven't found many 2 bedroom, pet-friendly listings in the newspaper, or in the online resources I found, so I'd be willing to try persuading her if need be.

From our brief exploration of Belfast, we figured we'd have to drive to Bangor for "stuff". Either that, or we'll be placing a lot of online orders. The supermarket is as nice as any Portland, though.

Thanks for all the info!
