My cat is a fuzzy little coward

This weekend, I went to a relative's wedding in Holland (Technically Saugatuck. I think). My sister and her boyfriend drove me there since my place was on the way, and they wanted to see my cat.

Knowing that Riley hides under my bed whenever he senses strangers, I kicked him out of the bedroom and closed the door. Bad idea. Instead of strangers ( Read more... )

Funny, I thought you called yourself an "enabler", not a "troublemaker" ;-p

Hm. I may have to be the ultimate acid test for Riley. I tend to be very good with cats who supposedly don't like strangers (though occasionally it'll flipflop and I'll be less popular with typically sociable ones).

Enabler, troublemaker. It depends on the circumstances. Either way's good, and it's hard to tell who's enabling whom when you do it right.

Riley's fear is understandable since he was found abandoned in a park and his ribcage shows signs of being drop kicked. You'd be welcome to try interacting with him if you ever have the opportunity.

Mmm...I know what you mean by the wedding thing. I'll fool around with stuff during the rehearsal (I once put in a CD of Lovecraftian christmas carols so instead of 'here comes the bride' my cousin had to walk down the isle to "I had a little shoggoth'. She was not amused :).

sorry about your cat, though! There's quite a few at the humane society that just don't want to interact with anyone at all. Sounds like yours fits into this category - er, well, except for you of course

...what on earth did your grandmother do?

My relatives might appreciate that sort of prank. The wedding march at this wedding sounded disturbingly like the Imperial March at first.

I think it's a matter of trust. My cat was apparently hurt by people before I had him, so I had to earn his affection.

I didn't see all of what she did, but she managed to make the groom's mom cry by mentioning that his father would loved how the wedding went (He died of cancer a decade ago), she convinced us to pile our unwanted tomatoes on my mom's salad plate when she was distracted, and then she kept making jokes about how all of the bridesmaids were plus-sized.

Your cat sounds like a bitch! XD I'd recommend more careful exposure next time to avoid the craziness. Though, to be honest, your cat sounds like it has a problem or something. XD

I think his problem is that he was abused before the animal shelter found him. Next time, I'm going to let him stay put, leave him alone, and hope he comes out on his own.

ROFL...Aww, now that be cute to see. Heck, my cat does hide under the bed, (my bed), but she doesn't like strangers...she gives them the EVIL EYE...and stares them down. XD

ROFL, now that's one way to have a party...have a T-Rex come bursting in. LOL, gotta love the troublemaker...every wedding needs a little....spice. Congrats to your sister and her new husband. ^^

Aww, your cat sounds like a crybaby, though from what I hear...it's completly understandable. Hehe...gotta love bribing them though. ^^ XD Hmm...I wonder how I'd be with him, I'm normally popular with pets....though then again...that's only 51% of the time....so...those are not "very" good chances, but I'm curious.

It scared me a bit since he's usually mellow. One of my sister's cats does the evil eye thing.

My sister didn't get married. (She'll probably elope if and when she's ready.) It was one of my second cousins.

At this point, I assume he's going to be terrified of everyone. It took a month for him to trust me when I first got him.

*nods* I can understand. I should post a pic of her one of these days. Down side is I can't take a pic of her without her eyes shining on them. But I'll try. XD

Oh, my bad. Sorry. ^^; But I'm still happy for your second cousin. ^^

Wow...the poor guy. I do hope his heart warms up for others eventually.
