My Canadian Six Degrees Valentine's Day Cards

Jan 30, 2010 18:53

Today was a good day, because, although I was surprised to discover that there is at least one highway patrolman who actually does stop and ticket people for driving 85 mph on the 65 mph Highway 287 in Wyoming, said patrolman took my good driving record into account and fudged a bit on the citation so that I could avoid trouble with my insurance company.  It also turns out that my employers keep their word about tuition reimbursement.

But far more important than both of those things is the fact that I received three AMAZING cards from the some anonymous wonderful snoopypez   person in the mail.  I don't have a scanner, and I'm a techno-tard, and I would be drawn and quartered for using the one at work to show you the cards, so I'll have to just transcribe them, in ascending order of awesomeness.  Scratch that; they're all awesome.  She posted pictures of them.  Go look.

Card 1:

From:  Kara Thrace
To:  Sam Anders

Format:  A lovely and classy card with an Emily Bronte quote ("Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same..."), with this message inside:

In your eyes I see my soul mate.
In your arms, I am at home.
In our world, I've found a love
to last forever.

Happy Valentines Day

The hand-written part says:  "If you ever get me a card this sappy, I will kick your ass, got it?  Now let's frak.  Kara."

Card 2:

From:  Benton Fraser
To:  Ray Vecchio

Format:  A commercial card that has a poem that tells the legend of Saint Valentine.  Fraser has written various notes around the story that adds alternate versions of the Saint Valentine legend, since there are many versions of it, in a very in-character encyclopedic knowledge voice that is Fraser.  The commerical part of the card ends with May the timeless message of this special day fill your heart with God's love.  Happy Valentine's Day.  Fraser then writes "Well, this part all sounds about right.  Love, Benton (or, well, Benny)"

Card 3:

From:  Ray Vecchio
To:  Ray Kowalski

Format:  A hand-made card with a paper heart glued on, and outlined with blue paint.  The heart has those goggly eyes, and letters glued accross it that say "Happy Valintime Day," and little hearts that are glued on that read "I'm Yours," and "Love Ya," and "Be Mine."  The handwritten part says:  "Kowalski, Don't you dare say a word about this.  My niece made this and I refused to make her cry.  She can't read what I'm writing now, though.  Uh.  Love you.  Shut up.  Vecchio"
