It is what it is

If I have learned anything in my life's travels, it's knowing when to give up. This has not been a total failure for me, though. I may not have gotten the feedback I had hoped for, but I did learn that "exchristains" are just as, if not more, close-minded and ignorant than any other christains. This wasn't about preaching the Bible or anything else ( Read more... )

Since you seem to want to be convinced that there is a god, your meanderings may do better in convert_me.

it's whatever, dude. I figure, if God or whoever, wants e to know them, they will let me know. By all means, if he's there, he knows I tried. A bit of advise though, try not to be so quick to jump all over people. Not everyone is out to change your mind. Some people are just looking to change their own. There are actual people at the ends of these blogs, with actual feelings, not some cold, hard lumps of wires, plastic and curcuits extending from lifeless computers.

I have to make this quick since I'm on the road and away for the weekend but I have to say I regret encouraging to share your view. This is a support group for ex-Christians, for us to work the issues we had with our faith. I find it quite insulting that you make assumptions that we'd be offended by your negative views on the bible and religion when most have the same views and had suffered for it.

just forget it. i wasn't expressing veiws either way, negative or positive. i have suffered all my life for thinking outside the box. I was looking to see if people saw the things i saw and if there was anything anybody could show me that I didn't see. You say this is a support group for people like me, but that is not true. I have been cursed and damned and cast out by the very same people who preach to judge not, and by those who have felt the sting of being judged. you are all the same. Just because I want to believe doesn't make it so. Just cause I can't believe does not mean I deserve to be damned. I think you are all just scared. you don't want to see things for what they are because what if you are wrong? It's not the bible that is flawed to the readers.

I can't speak to your intentions coming in this forum to discuss the bible, but it is strange. Rather than seeking other christians to discuss your bible and your beliefs, you come into the zone of pagans and others who have left the christian religion, and such. It's not so much that we're closed-minded as you put it-but we don't come into your space, into your church and push our beliefs on you and expect you to discuss texts that we may subscribe to. Just so you know, many people who come this forum, having grown up in christian households, know the bible quite well. And because we know the bible and have decided that we don't agree with it (or some aspect of it or some aspects of the religions we came from)we're not interested in disecting what you think is right, wrong, or indifferent in it. There are plenty of athiest/agnostic spiritual practice websites for you to take your insites to ( ... )

you are now making assumptions of your own. You assume i am a church going christain who has lost my way and knows nothing of your world. I was born into a morman family that later converted to catholisism in which i was baptised. As a adolesent, I spent time in several different churches and experienced the different religions of those churches. later, when I became an adult, i converted to wicca and joined a coven. I fallowed the wiccan way for several years, only to find that I now had more questions than I did before. so i went looking for the answers. god and his bible and is glory were drilled into my head as a child. the bible is the word of god and this is how it is supposed to be and balh blah blah. you think I don't understand. I just wanted to know that what I saw in that book with my own 2 eyes, was really there. you see, you couldn't look past the end of your nose. some one comes along and talks about the bible and you jump on the and try to rip them to shreads before you even know what's going on. Why? are you afraid you' ( ... )

Well, judging from how you act, it's a pretty fair assumption. You came onto *our* turf and acted completely clueless, managed to offend almost everyone and are now acting like we're the ones who've transgressed. I'd say that makes you pretty clueless (or actively assholish--take your pick.)

And no--we aren't afraid. Some of us belong to debate forums. But this isn't the place. As a quick perusal of the INFO page for the forum makes clear, this is a *support group,* not a debate forum.

It's you who have acted rudely. It's you who have transgressed social boundaries. And it's you who are now acting amusingly butthurt for being called out on it. Please do go on. I find your flailing deeply hilarious.

"our turf"?? LOMFAO, are we in high school now. I am over it. You are all so full of yourselves. You all can take your poor baby pity party and. . . well you get the idea.

Oi, we’re not all like that, you know. I'm of the opinion that maybe you should go away for a while and think about what you wrote?

And it's spelt "views". Use spellcheck, maybe, too? MS Word has a good one.

I am perfectly confident in the things I wrote. this is a forum of people who are only out to pity themselves. You are the ones who keep coig back to me. I am who I am and I what I feel is what i feel. I make no apologies for it. This is not a support forum. if it was, then everyone would have understood. everyone claims to have gone through what I am going through. I could really care less though. you all are a sad bunch of folks. And as far as my spelling goes, my son pulled a bunch of my keys off and now some of them don't type right.

this is a forum of people who are only out to pity themselves.

But earlier you were calling people presumptuous about you. Now you seem to feel able to pre-judge this entire community as self-pitying....

Oh!

Oh I see. You're trolling!

there is a difference in being presumptuous and having an opinion. To pre-judge means to pass judgement before knowing anything about the subject. It wasn't until after everyone began expressing their feelings that I formed an opinion. That happened after I was able to learn a little about everyone based on their opinions. Are you even really paying attention?
