Lemme tell you: I’ve been a hip hop head for a while, but it took me until recently to truly understand Jay’s importance. I mean, I have always loved The Black Album, but I didn’t realize how GENIUS this man is, especially with his verb play, until I really LISTENED to him.

I like the story about the liner notes. I was just telling Mecca - the BFF from home - how I miss how she and I used to walk into the local record store, buy an album each, and sit down outside to open the CDs, and listen to them in her car, liner notes in hand. I miss it because it was such an experience, and I discovered bands just by walking up and down the aisles and choosing a CD that looked interesting. I think I’m going to go buy a new CD before I head to DC.

But hell girl, you wanna talk about Jay? We will TALK about Jay.
