I was advised by everyone and a partridge in a pear tree NOT to drop ANY sessions, but I was like you; I was already pumping more than enough for my son. So I dropped it. I've been exclusively pumping for six months now; I only pump two or three times a day and I still don't use my freezer stash, which has well over 3,000 oz in it. The problem is that you just can't predict what will happen when your milk becomes demand-driven instead of hormone-driven. As long as you're prepared for the potential consequences, I personally say give it a try.
I had supply problems but not from dropping a particular pump although I will say when I dropped my 4am pump I was able to drop it cold turkey and all that happened was a little extra leakage at night (always had to sleep with a towel) and a very big pump when I woke up. Some people are affected more by dropping a pump than others are. I know some people on here do very well with fewer pumps but longer pumping times I never found that to work for me but unless you try you'll never know.
I EPed for my twins, and ended up dropping the middle-of-the-night session early on by orders of my doctor. It was the session that produced the least amount of milk for me, so my overall totals didn't really take a hit. I just had to make sure not to let too much time go in between when I pumped before bed and when I got up to pump in the morning.
