Bitch."
Today, my sister and I decided to head out of the house, and watch a movie because we were practically bored out of our minds at home. The movie we watched? (500) Days of Summer. Finally!
However, we had a little troubling adventure prior to watching the film. As it is an indie film and released in select theatres only, it wasn't playing in the big time AMC theatres nearby, so the closest cinema that was showing it was 30-40 miles away and we were going for the 10:45 am showing (Yeah, matinee for cheaper tickets!). The first theatre we went to was pretty bogus since once we came in, there was no audio during the previews and before the actual film played, the whole screen went black! After 5-10 minutes of wait, the manager came, announced that the main circuit blew, and it'll take about half an hour to get fixed. We were all bummed out, irritated, and got our refunds. Since my sister and I didn't want to let our free time go to waste and go home, we hunted for another theatre that was playing the film. Found one near the beach, 10 miles away. It was 11:35 am and we wanted to catch the 12pm showing. Due to the fact that it was near the beach and its a hot, sunny day, the traffic was quite heavy! We almost didn't make it, but fortunately, we did and arrived at around 11:55. This second theatre was small compared to the one before, but the seats were much comfy! The whole entire incident was quite exhausting, but still got the chance to see the film.
I loved it. It is a romantic-comedy, but it wasn't that typical rom-com when you can easily predict the ending half-way through that you see nowadays. (*cough* The Ugly Truth *cough*) But it reminded me of Woody Allen's Annie Hall. What made this particular film different and fresh was how much it touched upon and conveyed the reality of love and relationships today. It was a tad wrenching because of its honesty and how much I can relate. I guess that's reality and the truth hurts? Well, suck it! *sighs* Just to quote what my friend usually say, "Get over it. Life moves on." But, nonetheless, the film was good and is worth a watch.
Btw, a rom-com I'd also like to see is It's Complicated. Why? Its a Nancy Meyers film. But most importantly: Meryl + ALEC + Steve = melting pot of GOODNESS! And that ET clip...*glee* I can't wait till Christmas. :)
Oh and saw this outside the women's restroom at the theatre:
Way to promote District 9! XD
P.S. The quote above was this disclaimer at the beginning of (500) Days of Summer.
