I came across a marvelous malapropism in another student's constitutional law notes:

"Congress can act prophylactively."

A girl called me "fancy pants" today; I was partly dressed up for my (mandatory) bit part in a fake trial. Somehow "fancy pants" hurts more when you actually are wearing dress pants. Who knew.

I wish Congress would act prophylactively. They seem to keep reproducing needlessly.

"prophylactive" should be a real word. It would complement "proactive".
