okay, a long time ago i posted this really cool question, and discussed very briefly, vaguely, and strangely how i felt about it. i didn't realize at the time what an interesting quetion it was; anyone have an answer/thought/response

If ignorance is bliss, then why is it frowned upon?

because when you become aware, and no longer ignorant, you make yourself available to start something, change something, that you never would have noticed was wrong while you were ignorant. people need change, hence their frowning upon ignorance. however, people are so lazy to change anything that they "live" their entire lives not knowing, understanding, realizing, or facing up to problematic situations. they just expect someone else to do something about it, and don't create stress in their lives by not doing anything: "bliss." that's what i think, anyway.
