Winter break has been strange, in the way that I can't ever get to sleep before three in the morning and I actually really am looking forward to going back to school.

O, Dear Me,
You are quite wonderful (and reallytruly, I mean that, and I mean that people really must learn again in this old and heaving world to really react to one another, to move and be moved and learn to be permeable) and on those grounds alone--for in this great maelstrom, what other grounds whatsoever are there on which to stand?--I think that we should be friends. Because Columbus has a way of casting shrouds of lonely isolation between schools, and because my heart is pounding about for literary criticism, and because I visited-and-then-just-but-almost-missed the spare chance of fate that would have had me apply to Barnard. And because the strange, mysterious connexions are the only things that make any of this worth the while. And O!--How it is!
