[Have a tired Eliot, who just fought the night away and still haven't slept since arriving on the island. He's a little irritated, but better than the little suspicious he would've been otherwise.]
[Well that was irritating. Near did not like unnecessarily repeating things that should be known already. Nevertheless, he supposes he can settle for a brief refresher.]
Last night, if you recall, we both acknowledged that between us, each has skill sets the other can benefit from. I suggested a partnership would come in handy in the future, and you expressed interest in this idea. I would like to discuss the terms of such an arrangement if you are still interested, Mr. Eliot.
[Oh right, and before he forgets-]
Speaking of which, thank you for your assistance the other night.
Yes, thank you for asking. It seems you've made it out alright yourself.
First of all, I would like to know more about your own experience with technology. Last night, I noticed you were able to communicate with someone else via a non-visible device. Would you care to elaborate?
Is that so? Then you should be well-versed in the basic operations of these kinds of devices, unless you are from a time frame well before my own. But I'll assume you are not, since the miniature communication device you have been using is of advanced technology itself.
In that case, I will help provide you with some more advanced functionality with a heavy emphasis on security. [Because he's noticed how you love relying on the anonymous option as much as he does hur hur] In addition, I'll share any information I've gathered on this island with you as I collect them. In return, I only ask for protection when it is necessary.
[He hears the growl and proceeds to make a mental note before shrugging it off.]
Good tip, but I won't put it past the ones in control of this island to send even worse creatures after us, ones that may even destroy those walls in the future, but of course I won't rely on one person alone to handle that. Not only that, there may also be monsters from my own world here that might come seek me out themselves, so it's always good to be on guard.

Damnit, you mean there's more of the sickly things from your home? I can help you out if you're in trouble, kid, but I ain't big on makin' friends with more of those things if they're huntin' you or something.
sorry for all the deletes and edits ... have fun with this monster of a tag lolwhitestlieAugust 12 2011, 22:54:59 UTC
Yes, monsters.
[He says this oh-so-nonchalantly as though it's the most normal concept in the world.]
But not in the way you're thinking. They are human physically. They simply possess supernatural powers to control and kill others that would make anyone who abuses such powers monsters by my definition.
[Near balances 3 broken toy parts one on top of each other on the back of his index finger as he considers how much information to give. He trusts Eliot to an extent, so that's not really the problem, but the more the latter knows, the worse it will be for both of them if Kira somehow manages to pick up on their relationship, using the broadest definition of the word, relationship, even.]
I have reason to believe at least one of them is here with us. He doesn't know my identity and doesn't know where I live, but in the event that he does find out, I will be in trouble. The armor that you saw me wear the other night primarily serves as a disguise in addition to defense. Since he has no business with you however, Mr. Eliot, you

Re: It's a lengthy post, you're forgiven. Sorry for short changing you in the reply. XDwhitestlieAugust 13 2011, 21:18:33 UTC
Thank you, Mr. Eliot.

[Pausing as the robot parts topple to the ground. Near's not all that fond of admitting when he's in a weak position.]
You can see why I would be afraid of being discovered. [Yep, he lives right next door to his mortal enemy. Oh, the irony.]
You will drop by at least once. I will need you to bring your phone so I can install a few programs that can then be transferred to your laptop. I intend to stick to my part of the deal. However, the distance does make future arrangements a little more difficult, especially in emergency situations ...
[He thinks for a bit.]
Perhaps something can be arranged. Do you have spare rooms in your quarters?

Actually, I don't.

Uh, yeah. Small communicator in the ear, was usin' it on a case before we got kidnapped here.

Would these conditions be satisfactory?

Don't wander out at night and you shouldn't need protection.
[Which brings to question what exactly you do that would require protection.]
Before I agree to anythin'. Who are you, kid?
