Looking every bit as groggy and disoriented as she feels, she has yet to realize that the video function has been turned on. In fact, she hasn't even realized

[She fumbles with it momentarily, until finally she's facing the screen, which indeed is streaming video.

And did he just call her ma'am?]

I didn't think it was. We're all given a phone when we wake up here. Here being...an island. I don't think anyone else knows anything more about our location than that.

So, what you're saying is that all that crazy reality game stuff was legit? 'Cause I really don't appreciate being signed up for Battle Royale without, y'know, actually signing up.

I'm pretty sure this is all real, and not a game. Maybe they just want us to think it's a game.

Either way, no one wants to be here. Also, it's not safe out at night. There's monsters along the beach, as well as in the forest, but the bigger ones don't seem to go into the buildings.

Is that why this place looks more deserted than a matinee showing of Crossroads?

Well, the island has a hospital, library, mall, farm, dormitories, and...I'm not sure what else. The dorms seem to be safest. [Unless there's ghosts and killer leaves around...]
