[ The feed begins with the frozen image of a girl’s face - blue eyes, long purple hair hastily prepped, and a rather skewed hairband gracing her head. For a moment, Hitagi simply stares at the viewer with an unwavering and slightly disturbing intensity, turning her face in several different angles to reveal a few small scratches along her jawbone ( Read more... )

[Wait, he recognises that voice... Also what is she even talking about? There is just too much there that makes no sense, he's not even certain what to ask about first.]

Invitations to what? Class-type, DPS... Are you certain you didn't hit your head or something? No one left any of us any responsibilities, as far as I know. We're all just brought here and that's it.

[ why hello there, mage-kun. don't mind hitagi as she makes things more difficult for you. ]

It is admittedly a bit pitiful that the only thing you didn't bother to question is the portion about pills enhancing parts of the male anatomy.

But I won't discredit your experience. Certainly, such knowledge must be good for something...

[ Now back to business: ]

You had mentioned your magic before.

Were you gifted with such abilities before your arrival, then?

Well they try and sell potions and things for that in Kirkwall as well. That's hardly new.

[That and the ones about Starkhaven Princes needing somewhere to send their money for whatever reason. Like he hadn't heard enough people getting caught up in that one.]

Did I have magic before I came here? Of course, I was born a mage. Why would you think it would work any other way?

And have you experienced these scams first-hand?

[ It's actually a... mostly innocent question. She's just used to scams and con-artists, is all -- maybe she's trying to relate, maybe she's not. ]

... I suppose you can blame my life experience, if you must despise my prejudices. Magic is the stuff of top hats and rabbits where I come from.

[ ... ] Usually.

I've gotten the letters, but I don't have the coin for that sort of thing, even if I did believe a word they wrote about it all.

[He frowns a bit at the idea of 'top hats and rabbits', still not really understanding how that has anything to do with magic in the least, despite it being explained previously.]

What do you mean, usually? Have you had times when it wasn't?

[ . . . Tersely: ] Yes.

Nothing that I didn't ask for.

[ She's either blunt or distant, never both. This time, however, she makes an exception. ]

It isn't a particularly entertaining story, nor does it come with a moral that you might be able to garner wisdom from.

Or rather, I haven't been long enough in your acquaintance to know if it might be a benefit for you to listen. So I'll save you the pain of having to listen to me for longer than common courtesy dictates.

You know, I'm not asking because I think it might be entertaining or teach me something. I was asking because I thought it might be something I'm familiar with, something that might let me know if magic is the same in our worlds or not.

If that is the type of confirmation you are looking for, you need only ask.

I assure you, we are definitely of two different worlds.

... Or should I say, from two different worlds.

Being from two different places doesn't mean that the magic can't work the same way, or similarly enough. Is it really that difficult for you to talk about it? I'm starting to think you can't answer a simple question.

Then if I were in the possession of one, I would undoubtedly reward you with a medal for your obliviousness.

Indeed, most people would realize I'm a difficult personality within a few minutes of meeting my acquaintance.

Maybe I try to give people the benefit of the doubt?

[...assuming they're not blood mages or mage haters or templars...]
