[Note the sarcasm? Yeah, Miranda's not amused.]Seeing as this is nowhere near any system I can remember, I'd appreciate any information that can be given. I'm not fond of games that happen without my knowledge. In addition, I need to know what kind of technology and communication

I'll save you some time: Wherever we are, it's low-tech and off the map. As far as I know, they just call it 'the island'.

[Well she wasn't expecting to hear you, Shepard. BUT SHE'S THANKFUL oh god someone with common sense that she can stand. :'|]

It sounds like the beginnings of an Outer Rim colony.

[Which means they're screwed.]

It's good to hear you, Commander. I'm in the hospital.

Wounded? [She sounds a little sharper now. This isn't the place to have to deal with injuries.]

Highly doubtful. [Nope, just the first place she found. This island is weird.] We were just about to get on the shuttle, Commander. I'm more than certain Doctor Chakwas would have a fit if any of us left without being at top performance.

[femshep]

The shuttle? [Without Shepard? The nerve.] To where?

[overloads]

[Hey, it was with you. Not her fault they're from different timelines.]

Our next mission. You were about to discuss it with us when I was pulled here.

[A pause.]

Are you sure your memory is working properly?

[femshep]

Positive.

Just to be clear, what was the last mission we completed?

[overloads]

If you're certain. [Because the last thing they need is the Lazarus cells to stop working.]

Taking the IFF from the dead Reaper. Joker had just finished activating it with EDI.

[femshep]

...That's not right. [You hear the sounds of movement that go with Shepard standing and sheathing her weapons on her back.] You're behind.

[Which is a turn of events Shepard isn't sure how to handle quite yet. But one thing's for certain:]

I'm coming.

[And she's out the door of her dorm, heading for wherever the fuck the hospital is.]

[Well, she'll soon find out what Shepard meant by that.

Tralalalalalala, a short time later, there it is! Miranda's inside, barricaded in one of the rooms and making sure to keep an eye out in case anything terrible comes out.

It'll be a brief nod when Shepard comes through, after precautions and a raised gun in her direction. Self-defense, really. She doesn't know the area.]

You don't remember anything after the derelict Reaper?

Considering we had only arrived back on the Normandy shortly before, I'm more than certain there isn't anything to remember, Commander.

[Totally giving you a look, now. :|]

Then why do I remember how the suicide mission ends? Who survives, what's waiting for us at the end?

You're wrong, Miranda. I don't know how, but you are.

[There is a long pause of silence at that, Miranda unsure of how to process two things:

1. How the hell does Shepard know about the suicide mission ending? They hadn't even gone through the Omega-4 relay yet.

2. That's not how Shepard confronts things- not bluntly. At least when it came to her own team. Others, maybe- it depended on how hostile they were. But the crew? Not that harsh.

Finally, after the silence, she answers.]

I'm not sure. How do you know? We haven't even gone through the relay yet.

I know because I lived it. We won, Miranda. We won, then the Illusive Man wanted what was left of the Reaper vessel so we both gave him the finger and that was that.

[She's eyeing Miranda for a second.]

You don't believe me. You don't have to, as long as I can still count on you to follow my orders. [A dry laugh.] Which I don't have very many of right now, anyway. Not yet.

[There's a grin at that, ironically. She's just glad you took the time to take care of her sister and her.]
