I think not caring about people regardless of how much you think they may or may not be worth is inhuman, yes. Demons only care about those that are useful to them, people shouldn't be like that.

What benefit is there for me to care about anyone else? I don't believe in any "greater good". Anything I sacrifice that won't come back to help me or my king is a waste. I exist to protect him, and that's all that matters.

And what do you exist for if he's not here?

I exist to survive until I can return to my duties.

In the meantime, I'm keeping an eye on someone he cares for.

And I suppose that the idea that surviving might mean you need to rely on others sometimes doesn't really matter to you?

I haven't had to rely on them yet, and I don't intend to unless absolutely necessary. If I need a favor, I'll return it. I won't do more than that. It isn't worth the risk.
