As a diabetic, I can tell you that the glyberide was causing your blood sugar swings because it forces your pancreas to produce insulin, which can make your blood sugar swing really low - and when that happens, you (if you are anything like me) feel like you haven't eaten in years and survival mode kicks in and you can eat anything that isn't tied down. Metformin, on the other hand, will not lower your blood sugar, but instead works with most of your endocrine system to keep things on an even keel. it also helps battle insulin resistance.

And for the most part, all the symptoms go away (as does the disease) when the baby is delivered.

Reading about your pregnancy reinforces for me my decision not to have children ;-) Of course, part of that wasn't my decision.
