End of the year meme... yup.

Dec 31, 2010 00:20

Finally back to work, hopefully another short shift tomorrow and I'm getting my vacation pay this week.

In the meantime I'm apparently going to end the year falling down the stairs and bruising the hell out of my tailbone.

Skills

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
--flew cross country for a concert
--left the country for a concert
--been to Canada
--substituted (taught math, science, english, and basically everything that isn't history.)
--

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I don't think so.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Shanna had baby Bently in February! And so many people are pregnant. This will be huge next year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
I don't believe so.

5. What countries did you visit?
Canada! Twice.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
I want a teaching job so I can get get out of Roche Bros. I want to move out of my parents' house and to actually have some semblance of a relationship. To be healthy and actually use my gym membership on a regualr basis. (It is so sad how little of that changed from last year)

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
3/28 - Saw Something Corporate in California
4/20 - Passed out in the middle of work (why yes, everyone asked me if I'd been smoking.)
9/11 - Finally saw MTrench and then the overnight drive back. \O/ - ugh respectively
Wow... lame year.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting that tutoring job. My student is definitely smarter than I was as a high school senior but she really enjoys history and we basically just shoot the shit about the enlightenment or the french revolution every week. I'm so proud that she's doing so well.
-Secondly, doing something completely irrational for myself because going to California was so crazy and rewarding.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not finding a job. Sent out 25 applications and got one interview. I hate this economy.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Endlessly. I can't remember a year since early high school where I've been sick so much. Serious vitamin D deficinecy and who knows what's been going on for the past three weeks.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
All those damn concert tickets. I will note that this is the same response I put in last year (and the year before)... and I absolutely do not regret it one bit. See also, my desk that takes over my room.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Amanda.Jean - for making me come to Boston to participate in all sorts of Shenanigans.
Devon - for getting me out on so many roadtrips and to so many shows.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Roche Bros - Thanks for doing anything to help me when you cut my hours in half and still made me drive an hour to work.

14. Where did most of your money go?
The car, student loans, concert tickets.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
A bunch of big concerts, getting back to teaching and getting that tutoring job.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Anything off of Marianas Trench's Masterpiece Theater again, and I've been given way too much new music this year to pick anything but there are some Anarbor songs I really, really love.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Happier or sadder? sadder, due to all the health issues lately.

Thinner or fatter? Thinner, yay being sick all the time.

Richer or poorer? Richer is only because I spend almost nothing.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spending more time with my friends rather than working or staying in
writing

Umm...

29. What did you want and not get?
A job.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Inception, The Fighter, and I'm blanking on everything else.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went to work and came home and did nothing. I turned 23.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
The trip to California (and then NJ and Boston for the same reason)

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Glasses! Lots of professional clothes and not enough teaching days to wear them, and band t-shirts for work elsewhere.

34. What kept you sane?
My friends. My music. My theory that I don’t need to deal with everyone else’s bullshit. (again, the same as last year)

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Umm...

We never get to sleep we're up all day
We're overworked and under paid
