Author's Note: First, thank you for the mods, you have worked hard to manage this fest. For the prompter, your prompt is unique and I like it so much, but I just happen to be someone who has no sense of humor at all and ruins it /cries in the corner/ but I hope you still like it.

When Jongin is standing in dazed as he looks through all the tampons on the convenience store’s shelf, that he is starting to question why life can take turn into a strange path sometimes.

It starts with how time already past midnight and Jongin is fighting his sleepiness with all his strenght, that the drama’s filming is finally end. He can’t explain how happy he is while thinking about a hot bath and his comfortable bed waiting for him at home. It’s making him even more excited with the fact that tomorrow is his day off.

He bows his head to all the staffs without forgetting to say ‘thank you, good work today!’ and walks to his manager noona who’s standing alone in the corner.

“Noona, you are alone?”

“Oppa had something to do first, but he’s on his way to pick us already,” she answers, explaining why there’s no sight of manager hyung near her.

“Oh, okay then. How about we wait on that coffee shop? It’s better than standing here,” Jongin points his index finger to a coffee shop near the filming’s location and the manager noona nods her head in agreement. They say goodbye to the rest of casts and staffs before walking to the coffee shop. After they order their drink and walk to the seat that Jongin chooses that he notices something’s wrong.

“Noona, there’s something on your-”

He stops on his track, eyes widen in horror.

The red stain at the back of her pants... don’t tell him that is-

She looks confused at first before her face slowly mirrors Jongin’s expression. She takes a seat right away and fidgeting nervously. “Is it bad?”

Jongin can’t do anything beside nodding his head. “Kind of?”

“Oh, God. What should I do? I don’t bring any change and oppa is still on his way.”

Jongin doesn’t know why he also panicking right now. “Um, maybe I can help? N-noona you need tampon right?”

“Oh, you know tampon?”

“I have two older sisters. They talk about it sometimes,” Jongin suddenly remembers something and his face lights up, “There’s a convenience store near here, I can buy it for you.”

“No, no, you don’t have to!”

“But noona, we can’t just wait for hyung to arrive here. Don’t worry, I’ll be fast.” He takes off his jacket and offer it to manager noona, “Use this to cover it. I’ll be back.”

He rummages through his bag and takes his wallet out. He also takes the mask out and wears it, slightly praying that no one will recognize him this late and practically runs out the coffee shop.

The convenience store is pretty near and he can’t help to release a relief sigh. He walks into the convenience store and his eyes warily looking around, afraid that someone will see him and it’s gonna be a gossip or something. After all he has his image to keep, and his manager certainly gonna scold him if he doesn’t take a good care of it.

As he sees no one else was on the store except him, he strolls through snack aisle first before slowly walking to the aisle where there’s a shelf full of tampons.

And that’s how the story with how Jongin ends up thinking which tampons to buy in the middle of the night instead of rolling comfortably on his fluffy bed.

Now, if only he can choose one from all the brands that they have, but Jongin doesn’t any clue of which one to buy. Why there’s so many different size? And they even has one with cartoon character on it, does it make any different with the regular one? And wings-the heck is that? What’s the difference of day-time and night-time?

All of them look the same! Jongin internally screams as he does a facepalm, his palm meet the fabric of the mask he wears. He thought that he just need to pick randomly, but he’s afraid that he will pick the wrong one-

Oh.

He can call manager noona and ask her which one to buy!

Jongin happily rummages onto his pocket, only to find his phone is not there. He spends a solid ten seconds to search all over the pocket he has-his jumper pocket, and also his jean’s back pocket, but nothing. He lets out a deep sigh-he must have left it somewhere, trusted Jongin’s magic hand to lose all the things that he has.

So, Jongin is back on square one again as he stares blanky at the shelf in front of him. Not long after that, from his peripheral vision, he sees a familiar blue clothing that the convenience store’s worker use walks behind him. That’s it! He can ask the worker!

He turns his back immediately and wordlessly grabs the arm of the worker.

He shouldn’t have done that without much thought, because he regrets it right away when he sees the worker’s appearance. He’s slightly taller than Jongin and he looks like a model with his thin body and silver hair. His pale skin clashes with Jongin’s tan skin, and his face, and his jawline-Jongin suddenly feels weak on his knees. The nametag on his right chest shining under the store’s lamp. Oh Sehun. More like Oh shit-even-his-name-sounds-hot.

Jongin doesn’t believe in coincidence but this convenience store’s worker that currently looking at him in confusion is totally his type.

He might have looking like a weirdo right now, with how he doesn’t say anything and his hand still on Sehun’s arm, and he turns his confused looks into a strange one. “Are you a pervert?”

Wait, what.

Jongin suddenly realizes where does his stand right now and yes, a guy with a mask standing in front of tampon shelf looks hell a lot like a pervert.

He clears his throat and pulls his hand away from Sehun’s arm. He can’t embarrassed himself more than this.

“I’m sorry, but I’m not a pervert,” he looks around first and once he doesn’t see anyone beside him and the worker, he takes his mask off.

Sehun’s eyes widen almost immediately.

“You’re Kai,” he says in disbelief before he looks around with suspicious face. “Is this a prank? Did Chanyeol manages to find someone who look like Kai to do this? No, no, all of his pranks are lame.”

Jongin lets out a small laugh at that. This worker turns out to be a cute person when he’s panicking, nice.

“This is not a prank,” he clears his throat again and calmly tilt his head to the tampon shelf behind him. “Actually I need a help right now. I need to buy tampon but I don’t know which one to buy.”

He’s still looking at Jongin in suspicious way, crossing his hands in front of his chest and asks, “Do you perhaps has a weird hobby? Y’know, maybe collecting tampon?”

Jongin suddenly thought sleeping is a pretty nice hobby if there’s such a thing as ‘collecting tampon’ as a hobby.

“No, it’s not a hobby-”

“No no, I get it. You can reveal it to a stranger like me but dude, you kind of spoil it with your action. But relax, I’m not gonna blackmail you or something.”

“But it’s really not-”

“It’s a pretty weird hobby, I guess. You have another weird hobby?”

“Excuse me.”

Jongin can’t imagine how red his face right now. He even can feel the warm creeping to his ears and neck. He’s practically a human tomato now.

He clears his throat once again.

“Actually I’m buying it for my manager noona. She needs it right now but I forgot to ask which one to buy,” Jongin points one of the brands with wings on it. “Is it okay if I buy this? What is wings anyway?”

“I heard it can fly.”

Jongin simply gives a him a look.

“Just kidding. It’s only help with sticking it better to the… y’know where,” the worker scratches his neck, clearly embarrass now that they’re having a conversation about something guy wouldn’t to talk about.

“Oh. Okay. Then I’ll take it,” he says, taking one of it and walks to the cashier. Sehun follows him quietly.

He goes behind the cashier and proceed to scan the tampon when Jongin’s sight catches the candies beside the cashier. His mind is full with lots of pro and con before he decides to pick one of the chupa chups with the cola flavour, and puts it in front of him.

Sehun takes it as he asks, “Anything else?”

“No, just that.”

He pays for it and takes the plastic bag from Sehun. His brain is asking him ‘are you sure you want to do it?’ and his heart is practically cheerleading on him screaming ‘Do it! Do it! Do it!’ when he pulls the candy out from the plastic bag and shoves it to Sehun’s chest.

“For you,” he murmurs, before he runs.

The image of Sehun’s shock face as he takes the candy remains on his head for the rest of the night.

-

“Okay, let me elaborate for a bit,” Baekhyun leans deeper into Jongin’s couch, “You bought a tampon for your manager noona and the convenience store’s worker happened to be the man of your dream and all you did is gave him a fucking chupa chups? What are you, an elementary student?”

Jongin nods, swallowing his whine. “I know, I know. It’s stupid.”

“Glad you realized that.”

“I panicked, okay? I mean, I wanted to do something but I didn’t know what to do.”

“You could have give him your number!” Baekhyun replies as if it’s the most obvious answer, which earns him a look from Jongin.

“Manager hyung gonna kill me if he knows I give my number to a stranger.”

“He didn’t kill me.”

Jongin groans. “Of course he didn’t. You just started your new drama at that time and he obviously couldn’t kill the main actor of it. But he seriously mad that you got drunk and gave your number to a stranger, who happened to be a person who sold your number to everyone and wouldn’t stop calling you every night.”

“I was young back then.”

“Baekhyun, that happened six months ago, not ten years ago.”

Baekhyun ignores it and swiftly changes the topic, “So, what are you gonna do? Just let him be the man of your dream, or turns him into the man of your reality?”

“Wow, that sounds corny.”

“Answer me, Kim Jongin.”

Jongin thinks for a moment before he lets out sigh. “I don’t know,” it’s Baekhyun’s turn to shoot him a look, “I kind of want to talk to him again, but what if he’s a creepy person? I just started this drama and it’s seriously exhausting, I don’t want any trouble to add my stress.”

“What if he’s a good person?” Baekhyun’s eyes beam in excitement, “What if he happens to be a person who’s caring, has a good sense of humor and chooses any drink over coffee in a heartbeat?”

“That’s awfully spesific.”

“That’s awfully sounds like someone who will be a good match with you.”

Once Baekhyun’s words sink in, Jongin lets out another sigh and takes a deep breath this time. “Manager hyung is so gonna kill me.”

-

Jongin doesn’t know another way to meet Sehun other than going to the same convenience store again, so here he is, walking to the store in slow pace. His hands are sweating and he’s nervous like crazy. He smooths out his denim jacket once again, although he already did that over and over.

I just don’t want to fuck up this chance, Jongin talks to himself as an attempt to calm his nerve. Once the convenience store comes to his sight, his chest tighten and for the first time in his life it’s hard to breath not because there’s a mask blocking his nose.

Jongin walks into the convenience store and there’s no sight of silver hair, or blue clothes at all. He peeks around as he passes each shelf, including the familiar tampon shelf. As he turns around to the cold beverages section, he sees him. The guy with silver hair crouching down while putting the drink one by one into the refrigerator. Sehun.

He lets out a loud gasp, making Sehun turns his head around and his eyes widen at him.

“Kai?”

Calm down, Kim Jongin.

He clears his throat before he croaks, “Hi.”

Sehun’s face is unreadable at first, before he smiles and replies, “Hi.”

Oh man he looks even more beautiful with a smile-

“Do you come to buy another tampon?”

What.

“No, I’m not!” Jongin might be half yelling his answer, the familiar warm creeping into his face. Thank God he’s still wearing his mask or his red cheeks will be on display for Sehun to see.

Sehun snickers. “Just kidding. But still, fancy to see the big actor appears again here.”

Jongin doesn’t know how to explain it but there’s a heavy feeling on the pit of his stomach. Sehun acts as if nothing’s happen. As if Jongin didn’t give him a lollipop and ran away with no reason. As if he’s not curious why Jongin did that.

Maybe Jongin doesn’t stand this chance.

“I’m just looking around, but I will go now. See you later,” he turns around quickly, already imagining how disappointed Baekhyun must be with how coward Jongin is, when a hand grabs his wrist tightly.

“Wait, don’t go.”

Shit.

Jongin peeks through his shoulder and Sehun is looking at him with uncertain expression. “Why did you give it to me? The chupa chups.”

Double shit.

“I can’t stop thinking about it. Did you give it to me as a thank you, because I helped you? But you just ran. I don’t want to prey further but there’s an obvious answer but it’s too unreal that I don’t think it’s the real answer.”

Jongin gulps nervously as he asks, “Obvious answer?”

“That you might like me.”

The amount of shit inside Jongin’s head increase drastically and while he’s having a breakdown that his action was read perfectly, Sehun continues, “It sounds ridiculous to me. I mean, you’re a big star with smile as warm as the sun, I’m just a university student trying to be independent by working at the convenience store. We just met that time. This is not some romance teens drama like the one on television.”

Sehun sounds desperate and Jongin just can’t stay quiet anymore. He can’t ignore him and choose to be a coward, hiding his feeling.

“Y’know,” Jongin turns around to face Sehun, “I know we just met and it’s kinda crazy.” Shit that sounds like Carly Rae Jepsen, “But I think I kinda like you.”

Sehun just have this big ‘are you kidding me’ on his face that makes Jongin almost crack up. “I’m serious.”

“But this is not a drama.”

Jongin lets out a small laugh. “Hey, I’m also a normal person. I can have a crush with anyone I want, no matter what occupation I have. And you happened to be someone who is close enough to my ideal type.”

Sehun lets go of his wrist and cover his face with his palms, groans into it. “Man, you’re smooth.”

“I’m not,” Jongin already misses the warm of Sehun’s hand, “I thought of running away again few minutes ago.”

“Oh. Yeah, you’re right.”

Both of them just stay in silent for a moment before Jongin breaks it with, “Do you want to go out on a date with me?”

Jongin doesn’t know if asking that question is the right thing to do or not. Sehun sounds like he’s confused with his feeling and Jongin doesn’t want to force him-

“Yes.”

Jongin blinks. “Yes?”

“Yes, I’ll go on a date with you,” Sehun replies. “I like you too. Also, you made me thinking hard for this past days, the least you can do is treat me to something and I might forgive you. Oh, and I don’t like coffee. I prefer chocolate or bubble tea, you okay with that?”

The smile that spreading across Jongin’s face is so big it hurts a little bit, but he can’t hide his happiness anymore. “I don’t like coffee either.”

We sound like a perfect match, Jongin almost says.

“Oh. Okay then,” Sehun plays with fingers for a bit, “Do you mind if we go now? My favorite bubble tea’s place is not far from here and opens for twenty-four hours, but it’s completely okay if you can’t.”

Jongin lifts his hand up and looks at the current time from his watch. “It’s kinda late.”

“There’s no such a thing as too late or too soon for bubble tea,” Sehun replies, as if that’s his life quote.

Jongin laughs at that and honestly he can’t find a reason to say no. “Let’s go then. Tomorrow is my day off, anyway.”

Sehun looks slightly giddy as he says, “My shifts almost over. Let me pack my things first.”

“Okay,” Jongin answers, still smiling like an idiot. (An idiot in love.)

“Okay,” Sehun replies, mirroring his smile. (Apparently he’s not the only one.)
