Really? Cool. I'd like to do the Washington Intern Program when I'm a senior, but I have a little bit of a wait because I'm a lower. How was D.C.? And what did you DO?
I hope that the assembly shed some light on what the experience was like, and I would absolutely encourage you to apply your senior year. In terms of actual work, there was administrative work (filing, data entry, copying). We also gave tours of the Capitol, which was a great way to learn some American history. (Example: The artist of the Capitol was an immigrant, an Italian American who studied in Rome. The whole building is very Italian-influenced.) And then you do a lot of walking, delivering papers and such to various offices or over to the Capitol.
D.C. really was a phenomenal experience in every way. If anyone else has questions, you can always reach me at anierras@alum.exeter.edu.
It did help, thanks. I liked Matt's stories, lol ^_^ Now--after what you said about going to the meeting even though you were too young--I feel tempted to go track down Mr. Herney or Mr. Kim and ask them about the program even though I'm too young still as well. But that's probably not going to happen...
