+luhan knows that xiumin is /eventually/ going to move on but he did not expect it to be too soon cos he is still grieving
+kai has always liked xiumin but he did not want to cause any trouble when xiumin chose luhan over him (so basically xiukai are just picking up from where they were supposed to be if it were not for luhan)

ok i know op asked for a non au, an past xiuhan and present xiukai, but i read this fic which is a little bit similar to your prompt and damn heartaching and just. emotions madness.
