Their fifth anniversary falls on a Friday. Chanyeol hopes Kyungsoo can’t feel the slight tremble of his hands as they walk along the beach, fingers interlaced. It’s almost like a scene in a cheesy romantic musical; the moon is bright in the sky, the sand is warm between their toes, and the summer breeze cards gently through the soft strands of their hair.
This is it, Chanyeol thinks, inhaling deeply. I’m gonna do this. Here I go.“Kyungsoo,” Chanyeol stops by the shore. His hand dips into his back pocket, feeling for the gold band hiding snugly inside. “You-um. We’ve been together for a long time,” he starts, shuffling over so that they’re face to face. “And I love-“ he continues, but before he can spit it out, a puppy bounds over, knocking Chanyeol off his feet and flat onto his ass. The hyperactive puppy climbs onto Chanyeol’s chest, yipping excitedly. Kyungsoo laughs, crouching down to stroke at the dog’s coat. Chanyeol is torn between wanting to cry and wanting to hug the adorable little poodle ( ... )
