A familiar face steps up to the café's counter at four in the afternoon.
"You come here a lot," Joonmyun comments, punching in his regular order.
"I like coffee."
"...Six times a day?"
"I realllly like coffee."
"There's a Starbucks down the street."
"I like my money, too."
"Then why do you leave 100% tips on every order?"
"Don't those go to you?"
"Hardly." They're usually left for his friendlier coworkers, anyway.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Here, then. For you." The customer reaches across the counter and slips a ten thousand-won note into the cashier's apron, hand lingering for only half a second too long. He grabs his cup and turns away with a wink.
Some combination of frustration and fluster festers within Joonmyun for the rest of his shift.

It's six the next morning and that same guy is alone on the customer side of the counter. "This is too much change."
"Ten thousand won too much. I know."
The stranger frowns. "That was a gift."
"Thanks, but no thanks."
"Why don't you appreciate me?" He pouts.
Joonmyun keeps his eyes on the register. "I do ( ... )

"I used to want to be a singer," Joonmyun tells Jongin at two. "Not a.. not a real singer, I guess, but an idol."
"Oh."
The elder swallows and can feel Jongin's gaze lingering on his throat. "I was an SM trainee for seven years."
"Oh." Jongin's eyes grow imperceptibly wider, but remain unreadable. "You must've been really great."
"Not great enough."
"I'd like to hear you sing."
Joonmyun pauses. "I told you part of my story. You owe me yours."
Jongin tilts his head, a stupid smirk gracing his features. "What time do you get off?"
"Five." He used to have gigs a few nights a week. Now, he just bums around at home until it's time to sleep.
"Leave an hour early tonight. Let me take you out?"
Joonmyun blinks, shocked. Hesitant. Nervous. "I don't know..." Scared?
The longer he stalls, the faster the light drains out of Jongin's eyes. The man swallows. "Well. I'll be back in two hours, if you change your mind."
Then he's out the door, the tinkling of wind chimes reaching Joonmyun's ears just as he remembers to blush.
