That night, Jongin hears the muffled sounds from the room across the hallway. Some members are out getting dinner, and the rest occupied with their own activities. He presses his ear against the door and finds that Luhan is skyping his parents. Jongin's understanding of Mandarin is limited to the basic greetings they do on shows, but he can definitely recognise a tired voice when he hears one. When the call ends, he hears Luhan blow his nose

"Really, thank you." He whispers. The warmth of his breath makes Jongin's ear tingle. Stupefied, Jongin hangs his hands awkwardly by the side as warning bells ring in his head.

When Luhan finally releases him, Jongin doesn't know which part of his brain decides it would be a good idea to press a kiss to the corner of the man's lips.

When Luhan gasps, Jongin swiftly cups his cheeks to keep their mouths together, relishing in the stark contrast of smooth, delicate skin beneath his calloused palms. He tilts his head to bring those Cupid bows between his own, sucking eagerly on the other's lower lip.

It's a little like a kissing marshmallow, Jongin thinks. Soft and so fucking sweet. He holds their bodies close till their chests touch, trying to remember every second of this fleeting moment. He knows it wouldn't last, because the lithe body in his arms is stiff, strong hands on his chest attempting to push him off

"He's not angry you kissed him." Minseok stops Jongin just as he's coming out of the bathroom. The taller of the two quickly looks around to check if anyone had heard them.

"Don't bother. They all know something's up between you two." Minseok's face is a stern one and it makes Jongin nervous. He has never been good with the older guy, and just a tiny part of him wonders if it's because he's Luhan's most trusted buddy. "Don't look so dejected Jongin. He's just sad you took advantage of the situation."

"I know. I'm an idiot, Hyung. I don't know how to fix it when he's avoiding me-"

"He's not avoiding you. You're the one avoiding him."

Jongin shuts his eyes. Minseok gives him a light pat in the back.

"Go, he's waiting in your room."

Jongin opens the door and sees Luhan standing in the middle of it.

The man has his hair still damp from his shower and Jongin stops himself from any inappropriate thoughts.

"I really care about you and I kind of want this to work too. It'll be nice to have someone special..." Luhan trials off, suddenly feeling shy, and Jongin's heart start racing again. It is a soft request, almost inaudible. Coming from someone who enjoys his personal sleeping space, this a great leap of faith. Luhan's testing the waters and Jongin doesn't hide how eager he is to see how far they can go.

The rims of Luhan's bright eyes are red. But Jongin knows no tears will fall this time, because the Luhan he loves is beautiful and strong. This is the Luhan who perseveres through hardships miles away from home. The Luhan who broke him by saying, a few nights ago, that he didn't want Jongin the way Jongin wants him. But now, Jongin falls in love again with the same Luhan who will heal him, for simply being willing to try.

Luhan senses Jongin's hesitations and panics a little. "If you want to, of course." Please.Jongin could have easily blown this whole thing off as a joke, brush it off as something that never happened. That he never really kissed Luhan or confessed to him
