In judaism, there's a teaching that Elijah likes to roam the earth in disguise and see if the world is ready for what's called Tikun Olam (the world to come...aka messiah). So in Jewish teachings, you're supposed to always show hospitality to strangers because it could be Elijah testing. That's why I always give homeless people money or take them to get them food or something and try to show everyone love because you never know who that person really is. It kinda goes with your angel idea (which i agree with)
