I am going back to the Bay Area soon!

Well, two things:  the Arapahoe HIgh School shooting was at my high school!  That was a shock.  This area is pretty safe, the safest city in Colorado, and the 15th safest city in the country.  Of course, Centennial (once part of Littleton) is not really a city as much as a suburb of Denver and part of the greater Denver metro area.  In any case, we ( Read more... )

I'm not sure what you mean by press. A publisher?

Anyway, wow! What a great start to the year!

Yes, a press would be a publisher, so they publish books about trans issues, concerns, history and so on. They are publishing a series of books for trans people and anyone interested, called Letters for My Brothers , which is a series of short essays from longer transitioned men to men who are just starting out. I wrote the forward to the latest edition. They also have a book coming out soon called Manning Up again, essays about manhood and FTM transsexual process and identity -- and I had an old essay printed in that which had previously only been printed online. There's also a bio coming soon of Lou Sullivan, a famous gay trans man who helped change the protocol of the gender clinics (Stanford) from not allowing gay trans men to transition and have access to medical technology related to sex change -- they had only allowed men who were going to be heterosexual prior to his advocacy. He was the first FTM I had ever met. and a pioneering gay FTM ( ... )

Ah, okay. I was not sure. Anyway, that is indeed great news for you! What a great way to begin a new year!

And actually, I came home to an email from a church acquaintance who wanted to touch base with me regarding a job! She gave no other details, so I don't know if it's even something I am qualified for. We don't know each other very well, so I'm sure she doesn't know what my skills are or aren't. I'm sure you know how it is. People learn you're looking for work and they start giving you every ad or other opportunity that they hear about, whether it's REMOTELY realistic as far as your skills or not. (But I know they mean well.)

I emailed her back and left my phone number because I don't have hers. But she's either not home or not on her computer!

CALL ME, WOMAN! The suspense is killing me!

Wow, I hope that job is a good match! You deserve a break!

I will still need to make a living once I am there, as this gig will just be PT but it is something! At least I have a place to land, and - I am interested in working on this project and growing some new skills and working on a press.

The Oakland location is not ideal, but you don't always get ideal. So I decided to just hop in. That area has its charms actually and many people like it. It is gentrifying and like the whole Bay Area is changing fast. I can also move back to SF if the opportunity presents itself.

I didn't know that about LJ and comments but I am not surprised. That is weird. I like LJ but it definitely needs some tuning up.

Yeah, end of month! I am getting a one-way flight on Southwest for less than $70.00 and will have the rest of what little I have shipped or I will pick it up later. Good news! It has been a fun and interesting and good stay overall, but time to get back to my life in the Wacky Bay Area!

Congratulations on the move! I hope that the politics of the Bay Area don't scare you off before I have a chance to be your neighbor -- I'm planning on moving to (probably) Oakland in spring 2015.

Yeah, the politics! Heh... but they are changing as a libertarian strain is coming alive there thanks to the entrepreneurs and -- the tech success. I am always ahead of these trends... ;)

If all goes well I should be there in Spring 2015 and if so, we shall have to meet in person! Sounds like a plan.
