Would you say that the suffering and death of thousands of innocents, the degrading of an entire culture, and the deaths of hundreds of soldiers is worth it when the war in question was entered into for a personal vendetta, and upon the false information given to not just the US but to the entire world by one of the most corrupt governments known ( Read more... )

well said (er, written).

i, too, am at a loss. have you thought about turning this into a letter to send to your local paper? moveon is encouraging letter-writing because local op-ed pages set the political barometer after speeches like this.

hmmm...no, I hadn't thought about that. Maybe I will do that. Although, I would be shocked if something like that actually made it into the paper here - North Idaho is pretty darn conservative.

ah, but controversy sparks readership. never underestimate the power of sales.

you'd be surprised at how much more liberal some newspapers are than what they print suggests. the wichita paper endorsed bush, but i know members of its ed. board from high school, and they *hate* bush. but people would stop their subscription if they didn't endorse him, so...

even if they are conservative, the editorial board is always looking for things to make them look "balanced." as long as you sound reasonable and intelligent, it would shock me if they *didn't* publish it.

I may have to consider sending in a letter, then. I think what I wrote for my LJ is probably a bit too inflammatory, though. *grin*
