My husband put out roach motel-type things during my first year here, and we didn't see another roach until right before we left (about 2.5 years later) just last month. I'd probably put down more if I still lived there, but they worked like a charm. Others who lived in my building still saw them (and they didn't get anything to kill them), so... I'd say you're safe with something like that.
If you see any roach, soak it in dish soap. It apparently clogs their breathing tubes, and it slows them down quite a bit if you want to throw them out.
I literally cannot sleep because every time I hear any sounds, I wake up convinced that it's a roach somewhere…
omg, i just had to comment to say i do the exact same thing. as i'm falling asleep sometimes i will hear a rustle and i'll jerk back awake, paranoid that it was the sound of a roach scuttling around somewhere... i feel you... :X
