Flea/tick medicine for dogs in Japan - are overseas brands ok to use here?

I want to get some flea/tick prevention medicine for my mini-dachshund, and I would like to use the same brand I used on my dog back in the States. I know there is similar medicine available here, but I'd rather use the brand I'm familiar with (and can get cheaper than a lot of the medicine here
