Why am I thinking about this at five in the morning?
I started thinking about the interests list as a Turing test and that gave me an excuse to think about more incredibly random things I'm interested in and I counted and, apparently I had a greater number of unshared interests than I thought.
I said 17th-century poets because the seventeenth century produced a lot of interesting poets, but sadly lj limits the interests list to 150.
2PWG slash is an abbreviation I made up for when people slash the two (or occasionally three) pretty white guys for reasons that are essentially aesthetic (or whatever you call that when it's applied to porn--like, hot) despite one (or both) of the pretty guys canonically being presented as the obvious slash pairing with a black/bald/fat/whatever the slasher doesn't find a turn-on guy. (If there can be such a thing as a canonical slash pairing, but leaving aside the is-subtextuality-essential-to-the-definition-of-slash question for the moment, go with me here). It's a subcategory of the "any two guys" concept, but what differentiates 2PWGs is the presence of the other, non-pretty but way more slashy relationship, whereas with an ATG type pairing that might or might not be the case. (And yeah, I suppose I could think of actual examples, but I'm lazy).
Aramir is easier to type than Aragorn/Boromir and/or Aragorn/Faramir, plus I think it's a pretty word.
I can't believe no one has listed being Brian Kinney as an interest, especially some of you--and you know who you are.
I know there are other people who find the Crais/Aeryn relationship as fascinating as I do, and someday I should talk about why as well as Xena/Ares, archetypes, romance novels, and filing off the serial numbers. For now, double_helix just wrote some NC-17 Aeryn/Crais--and I have plot/characterization issues with every post-Valldon Aeryn and Crais have sex story I've ever read (like, all three of them), in this case because I think that by the time she walks out of the hotel room something has happened within her that precludes her behaving the way she had been earlier, but if this story were set as a missing scene right before the tag instead of afterwards I can completely see the continuation of events playing out this way... and needless to say, it's really well written. I was happy. And wow, that was long.
Similarly, I could talk about why I'm interested in them at great length but I love evil telepaths.
How can people not have love for Giles? The world needs more Giles love!
I think the Jude Law's mouth thing is fairly self-explanatory.
Eventually the Cartoon Network will give us new Justice League episodes.... Hopefully before the end of time, although hey, the end of time does have potential Superman/future!Vandal Savage caveslash to recommend it.
I love palace intrigue because basically it's office politics, except with better clothes and the fate of nations at stake.
Sark/Tom Quinn. This is all nestra's fault. Okay, her and shrift. What else is new?
If you like the period, Sharpe crossovers are the way to go because you had Sean Bean and a cast of thousands, especially when you make half of them Immortals.
Slashing soap operas--more people need to do this, because dude, have you watched General Hospital...?
I always wanted tailsmut with Beka and purple!Trance--yes, I know they cut off her tail and made her not purple but I don't care. Set it during "The Pearls That Were His Eyes" or, I don't know, I haven't watched Andromeda since the end of season 2 but if Krycek can regrow his arm, there's no way Trance can't regenerate or something if she feels like it. I'm just saying.
The characters I relate to turn out to be undead prostitutes almost as often as evil telepaths.
