There was a nice thunderstorm on Sunday. A few of them really but the one I witness happened around 3:40p. I was at work and a few large drops started falling insistently wind started blowing and then sheets of rain came in causing a bit of chaos on Walnut street. Large quantities of what most neighborhoods would call loiterers took refuge in

I liked Perfume, though it alternately made me hungry and disturbed me....hm. The colors were really rich and beautiful, and it was entirely messed up. I think Mullholland Drive was mostly about some woman had a weird dream in LA and it didn't all fit together because most of the movie was her dream and the little part that wasn't was odd. You should watch Twin Peaks! I love it! But can't force anyone to watch it with me. I have it on DVD.

I think lynch wants to do a lot of the stuff he was able to cram into eraserhead a lot. So every time he uses a particular sound pallet I think he's drawing from eraserhead. I think he likes theater within film. He's been able to do that stuff because he wraps it in a shiny colorful package and pretends plot is important for a couple of hours. I don't think he cares about plot when he can draw emotion.

Yeah, I don't care what anybody says, I don't think there can be any one definitive explanation as to the events of Mulholland Drive. It's so convoluted that any attempt at deciphering it must be relegated the realm of personal opinion. Maybe the writer had an actual explanation in mind. Then again, maybe he/she(?) was just on drugs. It's too bad really. I found the film interesting and compelling until I realized it was pointless. Shame :-/

the explanation I found was pretty compelling, it just couldn't work in the winkie scenes to my satisfaction. It was definitely helpful to watch it twice within two days.
