It has recently come to my attention that there is a word called 'chillax' now entering popular use, which happens to be a portmanteau of 'chill out' and 'relax'.

People, please stop using it. It is less clever than it sounds. Which isn't to say that it sounds clever at all. It sounds more like a rejected Pokemon concept, as in:Ash: 'Chillax stop ( Read more... )

For a moment there, I thought you said you like the word climax. Now that would have been a thread worth 18 comments.

yeah i like that word too. but not when you use it in a sentence that goes something along the lines of, "chillax ka, dude." it just sounds stupid like that. i use chillax to classify songs because it's such a neat catch-all phrase that way.

Well "chillax ka, dude" is intrinsically stupid because it mixes East Coast slang with Taglish nonsense.

For the most part I classify songs according to where I found them. I don't really have much in the way of 'chillax' music but I label them alternately between "Cigarette Scene", "So Dope" and "Feeling Zen".

chillax, pare, don't be hella stuck up :)) (what's the state of 'hella' in manila btw?)

chillax sounds like SNORLAX thats why. and Snorlax sounds like a medicinal liquid that makes you wanna poop. or sleep. or both.

I don't hear hella too often, but probably because its hard to make the distinction between a real 'hella' or a 'hella' that is 'hell of' mangled by a speech impediment or accent of sorts.

Great. I think the mere act of complaining about chillax alone has just made me see the word appear more often than I've ever heard it in my life. And actually Snorlax was exactly who I had in mind when I said Chillax is like a Pokemon. :)
