CANON SYNOPSIS:

History: To start out Eve is a genetically engineered bio-weapon. In short, she was created to be an ultimate soldier and was raised to be a killing machine. She was raised by a man named Toreno Rudman, who was an arms dealer for the mafia. For the time the girl was under his wing, all that mattered was for her to kill anyone who got in their way. Happiness, toys, love, ice cream, they were all considered unimportant. She was kept in confinement until one day a young man named Train Heartnet breaches the security system.

Toreno had simply told her to play tag with some men that were of no use to him anymore. Before she could kill them, Train jumps in. There is a large ruckus and Eve finds herself wandering away from home. Quickly getting lost, she bumps into a man who starts to shout at her. A man named Sven Vollified, who is Train’s partner, sees the little girl being bullied and scares him off.

He shows her kindness for the first time and buys her ice cream. Unsure of where her home is, they relax in the park. She now has had stimulus that she never received in the time she was confined. Soon, Toreno shows up. It turns out Sven and Train was after his bounty. Toreno orders her to kill him. Although Eve does stab him it is not in a lethal place. Not knowing this, Toreno drags her back into the car and they leave.

Later, Toreno is talking to Eve and sees her crying. He becomes angry and slaps her. He’s unsure of what stimulus she has received but there is a chance Toreno could lose her as a weapon now. With the risk of losing millions of dollars worth of time and effort, he becomes extremely stressed.

Yet again, Train and Sven breach the security with the help of a thief named Rinslet Walker. Toreno rushes out of the room and later Eve follows them. Eve asks Train and Sven a question. “If I go with you do I not have kill any more?” This proves that she has never enjoyed killing and wants a new life. They defeat Toreno, and then Rinslet, Train, Sven, and Eve leave together. (Before they leave Rinslet steals a large amount of money and blows up his mansion. Which contains many failed experiments and a large amount of important information for nanotechnology.)

The two bounty hunters know if they turn Eve into the government that she will be experimented on again. They decided to bring her with them and she happily complies.

To expand through the rest of the manga, I’ll mention the points I find important.

As the manga goes on the trio hunt for bounties and such but eventually there are points that lead them all to agree that Creed must be stopped.

During a fight with two members from Chronos Train is injured. Knowing Train won’t be able to defeat them from this stand point she uses angel wings to fire feathers that act as bullets for a distraction. (FYI some strange nanobots turned Train into a child. He has a hard time using his gun because of the backfire.) She asks Train “Do you plan to die here? I still haven’t used my abilities to defeat you.” Even as she grows the girl still wants to prove to Sven that she is ultimately better than Train and should be his partner.

To find a way to bring Train back to his normal state they find the best person in the world to help fix him. She is Doctor Tearju, who is actually Eve’s creator. At first, Sven holds back from telling Eve abut her creator but Train finally tells her himself. He leaves it up to her to decide if she wants to go with them or stay. Earlier Eve had mused that her Mother must be out there somewhere so she was curious and wanted to know what kind of person this woman is.

Upon arriving, Tearju welcomes them with open arms and reveals that Eve is actually her clone. The girl states that she is relieved. (You would hope that if she was actually her Mother then she wouldn’t give Eve to a monster like Toreno.) A while later Tearju is attacked by the Apostles because she refuses to work with them to create a nanomachine that makes a human become immortal. The woman said that after Eve’s creation, she chose to never experiment with human life again. After Train goes back to normal with Tearju’s help they all decide Creed needs to be stopped. This was brought up by Eve and everyone agreed with her. She believed that someone so dangerous and someone who could kill so mercilessly shouldn’t be running freely.

They go on trying to track down Creed and the trio has to split up. Sven wants to train on his own for a while so this leaves Train and Eve to work on finding information on the Apostles. Although Eve isn’t very excited about having to work with Train, she does give her consent. Earlier on in the manga, Eve would have refused. This shows she has matured a bit with the rivalry between them.

The two work together and go to a sweeper bar. When they ask if anyone else was hunting him everyone said they were afraid to after so many died trying. Yet again, Eve shows that she is brave and willing to speak out when needed by saying “This is pathetic. Is this really a good idea? Is everyone really fine with this? Haven’t you ever thought that Creed, who has killed so many people, cannot be allowed to roam free?” The sweepers are offended that a child would speak to them this way when suddenly a man steps out from the crowd in agrees.

The tl;dr of this is that the man and his co-worker challenge them to join a sweeper’s alliance. The two agree to it, play through an obnoxious video game to attain the information of where the meeting place is, and then decide to head over to the place. Sven agrees to meet up with them there.

Once they meet, the alliance is formed, and a small group of elite sweepers go by boat to go and defeat Creed and company. After fighting with a Taoist the ship is ruined and everyone is shipwrecked and spread across a small island. Eve finds herself with a man named Kevin and they go toward the main drag where Creed is. They end up being trapped by a boy named Leon who fights Eve.

He has the ability to control wind and a very big fight ensues. Eve seems to have won easily and has made him make a promise that if she wins, he will leave the Apostles. Later, Kevin asks her how she won against someone so strong and she explained “I used big transformations to give the illusion that I was at an advantage.” So her battle tactics have also improved quite a bit from when Eve was released from her prison like home.

Now, everyone meets up and while getting through the castle they come across many opponents. Eve finds herself hesitating because she may have to kill eventually and she is told “Don’t hesitate; a moments hesitance could cost you your life.”

Train and Eve end up in a world made by a fucked up Doctor. He intends on dissecting Eve for the fun of it. Wanting to study her as well, it should be a slow and painful process. The girl actually has to face a replica of herself from when she was younger and remembered something else Train had told her earlier. “I’m sure you can think of a great way out of this! Just don’t lose your cool!” This is a major turning point because she is able to fight off the memories and says “I’m not going to go easy on a fake.” She comes to terms with who she is in that moment. She isn’t the person of who she once was and her powers are used for good now. Although her hands are soiled with blood, she can fight for those people she killed, and fight for the lives of others.

Once Train and Eve defeat the doctor, they meet up with Sven and some other sweepers. Train is the only one who can defeat Creed, so he goes on by himself. Eve and Sven fight off the ‘Phantom Star Brigade’. They are simply machines, so Eve decides she will not hesitate in destroying them completely.

In the end Saya, Train’s deceased friend is able to help them win through her spirit. (She had helped Train and Eve leave the doctor’s imaginary world.) Eve learned an important lesson from this day. Sometimes, it isn’t how powerful the weapon is, but how strong your faith is. Soon after Eve uses her nanomachines to cancel out the ones Creed has to be immortal. They allow Creed to leave as a human with his right hand woman. Train had refused to kill him saying that “Live just like everyone else with the burdens of life.” They part their ways and the trio leaves, they have won.

Eight months later, Eve is still with Train and Sven. After she stops some criminals Train makes the comment “Looks like you’ve become a first class sweeper.” A bit annoyed, she admits that she doesn’t have her license yet. They go on for a while and later end up driving off. There is one more important thing Eve can recall Train saying. At the words from him she smiles slightly, which is her consent.

”The past isn’t just something that you can throw away. It stays with you forever.”
Personality: Now that Eve has been out in the world for quite a couple of years she has developed her on views on life, and has a strong sense of self. One of the things she has said was “As long as there is life there is hope. I know that much.” Despite being a child she thinks logically and rarely loses her cool.

Being in a world filled with crime and knowing that people usually have ulterior motives, it may take a little time before Eve will put her trust in you. When meeting someone new Eve has a tendency to keep most of her emotions hidden. Only once in a while will she crack a slight smile. For the most part, she is polite, but blunt and to the point. She doesn’t like beating around the bush.

Once you get to know her she is a truly loyal friend. Eve may not show it much but once she considers you someone close to her, she’ll worry about you, and want to keep you safe. Another important thing about the girl is that she has a strong desire to protect people. At one point in the manga she saw a man take a boy from his Mother and put a gun to his head. Without knowing him and having full knowledge of what she was doing was very dangerous, she put herself in the line of fire. In the end the criminal was captured and the boy was saved.

Eve is naturally a very competitive person. She has stated openly that Train is her rival. Eve wants to defeat him under her power and become Sven’s number one partner. At the end of the manga the rivalry is still there. She seems to have calmed down about it a bit. Eve is willing to work with him now if she has to. Despite this, don’t think for a second that she has given up on surpassing him.

There are parts of Eve that it seems like she herself has finally comes to terms with. There is still quite a bit of guilt felt because of the people she so ignorantly killed. In fact, she admits that she is no better than any criminal out there. Throughout defeating Creed and the Apostles she has finally come to terms with herself. Eve will protect the people she loves at all costs. She won’t stand by and watch innocents be killed. Yes, the guilt is still there, but she knows she isn’t a demon any more. Eve has accepted her past to quite a large extent and is determined to keep moving forward.

Special Abilities: As it was already stated, Eve’s power is derived from nanomachines. The nanomachines inside of her body give her the ability to change her body’s shape and composition at an atomic level. Now, she can’t do anything insane like shape shift into a baseball bat. She can form weapons like swords, hammers, and axes to aid her in battle. By the end of the manga she can even morph herself into a mermaid, make her hair into blades that can slice through anything and everything, and even change her entire body into steel. These are only a few examples and what she is able to do is going to change over time. As she grows and improves so will her skills to transform.
The nanobots also give Eve the ability to heal at an accelerated rate. Wounds that would take two weeks to heal would heal in two to three days maximum. It is also noted that she has in IQ that is well above the normal level and can read through libraries within a few days. The girl can remember everything she has read due to a photographic memory. It should also be noted that by the end of the manga she has a basic grasp on how to use a gun.

CALABRIA-VERSE BACKGROUND: It all starts with a bit of DNA and a power hungry scientist. To make the ultimate weapon, a destroyer of all whom opposes its master, it was all in the man’s grasp. Of course, it took a few long years of failed experiments. Really, they were ugly creatures, missing eyes and limbs. Broken soldiers who just wouldn’t work right, nanobots running through their little veins, but alas who wants something with such imperfections?

Then, after much trial and error came a little girl that they named Eve. Such a tiny girl, but the pieces fit just right, and surely she would grow up to be their number one. Money poured into just one child. Tests, needles, doctors cutting her open to see what was inside, and finally implanting things into her that just shouldn’t belong. It hurts, but Eve doesn’t understand, they never told her what these bad feelings are because she doesn’t need to know.

She didn’t need to know many things at all. In fact, the one thing she knew all to well was the word kill. Kill, kill, kill, they kept on saying what she was going to do but she still didn’t understand. That is, until they set up a special little program just for her. It was her play time, the time to learn all about battle tactics, mathematics, science, languages, they were all hers to master, and master she did.

Quickly the scientists began to find she was far from a failed experiment. She excelled in everything she taught them, perhaps even a bit too much for their liking. As Eve grew she soared above their expectations, slowly growing bored with their little play things. At the age of ten the time had come for her to understand what kill truly meant. Mercilessly, the scientists ordered her to murder some associates who had recently cut their funding. The little girl in black cut them down easily, arms morphing into knives and blocking away petty bullets. Blood marred her hands and slowly formed into a small body of water around her.

The orders to kill were endless, but Eve felt nothing towards it. She couldn’t describe those little things like joy, love, or hate because no one taught her that. No, those were pitiful and unneeded. To be the perfect experiment, the perfect monstrous soldier, she had to have no emotions at all. Then, one day at the age of fifteen Eve catches a glimpse of what ‘outside’ is like. One day the facility is bombed by the mafia due to the lack of ‘loyalty’. Eavesdropping, gathering information, she learns the word family and it sounds strange, foreign. That doesn’t matter though, because she gets to go outside because no one is watching. Everyone is a coward here she thinks, everyone here is petty, they can’t even protect themselves.

Then she sees the failed experiments, little bodies scattered across the floor and the building is in flames. One of them is even breathing, body disfigured and disgusting, but for some reason there’s this liquid coming from her eyes and her heart hurts. There are footsteps coming too and the sound of guns being loaded. Sensory overload, leaps of a little thing called faith, and she’s sure that those things on the floor are what ‘family’ is for her. She doesn’t want to play these games anymore, doesn’t want to kill for that man because all that it really ever will be is screaming and blood.

That day Eve kills the scientist and those men who had aided in the creation of those creatures that she knew were supposed to be her. What little information was left on the burning site she took with her before fleeing into the darkness. Eve knew she had to keep running or else those bad men might find her, so she ran for a few more years. At the age of eighteen she was a mercenary of sorts, but only for the people she deemed fit. Never would she fight for scientists or doctors. That she had decided the day she started running.

Two years later she finally decided to stop running, it was time to make her own life. Despite the fact that she made few friends, she had been able to observe, and perhaps even discover things like happiness. At the age of twenty she finds Calabria, unsure of what standpoint she has on the whole business of killing any more she decides to lay low for a while. She’ll fight enough to keep a small, well kept home, but she wants to understand what it is to be human now. Eve has some ideas, sometimes she’ll find herself being able to smile, especially when she’s reading a book, but she wants to catch up a bit on what she should of known when she was a child.

Don’t get her wrong, she hasn’t forgotten her past or those little bodies littering the floor. That day everything came crashing down will forever be etched in her memory and she won’t soon forget what she desires the most. Someday, Eve would love to find who funded all that research and cared not for those small children who should have been allowed to live. In fact, she would rather like to take that man down and lock him away for good. So, the hunt is on. Will she be able to catch him? It’s a cold case with no leads in sight.

CURRENT SITUATION: Currently Eve is living in a small home cornering a large library and an ice cream shop. Although her job as a mercenary is what keeps her afloat she’s attempting to find something a bit less mind numbing with a lack of blood and violence. As always she’s combing the streets for information on a few perhaps long forgotten scientists, but she also wants to learn a bit about being human as well.

THIRD PERSON: Perhaps it was unwise of her to be striding through the cold alleyways after dark. Gunshots were plentiful, but it hardly made her heart race with fear. There was a cold calm about her as red eyes swept over the shadow filled corners. Two heartbeats, a can fell from atop a small garbage heap. On the alert she stepped in front of the mass to find four small feet sticking out from under the right side.

“You can come out.” Voice was of even temper, but she soon she tired of waiting as they seemed to crawl further under the pile only serving to knock a few bags to the floor. Swiftly she grabbed their ankles, yanking them out of their hiding spot and knocking a good remainder of the bags to the ground. “Just what are you fools attempting?”

Hanging upside down the two boys soon lost their fear of her and smiled widely. “Dumpster diving is all we were doin’ ma’am!” Piped up the red headed boy showed her a broken watch made of silver. “A beautiful find, ain’t it?” The other seemed far less enthusiastic, face growing red he appeared faint.

Dropping the two she shook her head. “That wasn’t a dumpster. You both should go home.” For some reason she felt mildly concerned. Well, they were children after all and this was hardly a safe city, especially close to the stroke of midnight.

Clambering up to stand the boys both shook their heads. “We ain’t got no home, street rats! We’re the tough ones battlin’ it out for survival. Ain’t that right, Bryant?” The red faced boy now deemed Bryant nodded in agreement. “Well ma’am, no matter how pretty you are this surely isn’t the place for a lady. We’ll lead you back a ways from the hustle. That sound dandy with you?”

Boy, that kid sure could talk, and no matter how much she would rather be in the ‘hustle’ it would be better if she could escort them away from here, even if they didn’t quite know what she was thinking themselves. “That sounds… Fine.” Eve replied, quirking a brow as the boy laughed a bit, tugging at Bryant’s hand.

“Right then ma’am, this is the way to go!” Merrily he led her out of the darkness and into the light. It was… strange. Just how could a complete stranger, a child at that, care about her safety? Perhaps it was out of good will, but for some reason she was rather sure that he may try and steal her wallet. To her surprise, he didn’t attempt to do anything of the sort, but that was quite alright. The strangest thing of them all must have been that you can find good people in the most desolate of places.

FIRST PERSON: [Eve sighs softly before she speaks into the device, tone clipped and irate. Oh, the problems she has to face on a day to day basis.]

I’ve accomplished reading through one library in this quaint little town. Really, this is ridiculous, is there not another that I can delve into?

[There’s the sound of something being scribbled on a paper.]

Perhaps I should invest in my own private library. Things look rather abysmal as it is.
