He had such a good future, years ago. He had all the potential in the world; he was intelligent, a fine ninja, pride of his Uchiha clan. He could have been a hero of Konoha, maybe with enough potential to be Hokage one day. Instead, he was reduced to this S-class criminal, hated by the little brother that idolized him, executioner of his own family, allied to Akatsuki. And those who blamed him would be too optimistic, and not strong enough to realize the truth that there was no ‘other way’. Though he by no means would ever correct any's disturbed perceptions of him. It was merely his burden to bare. The world was harsh, and not fair. One would have different solutions in different situations. Be the situation mild as what to name a newborn child, to Itachi’s problem; and they wouldn’t always have a good one. When Itachi’s clan planned to destroy Konoha, their Coup de Tate on their own home, THAT was when they signatured their own death warrants. The young shinobi was grotesquely thrown into a question of his loyalty and the love he ( ... )

The remedy to only cover the inner suffering he found in the years passing resided in a young boy, Gaara (who no longer could be considered a young boy). Fifth Kazekage of Suna and a brilliant specimen to observe. Upon first and brief sight of captive lifelessly laying, exhausted on the ground in one of the many hideouts of the Organization; the Sharingan genius found himself in a trance, which only thickened it's hold over him as time progressed. Gaara provided a thin layer of solace to him with regal demeanor and a torturing appearence. Unlike the bloodthirsty creature that the villagers saw him as, Gaara held a sense of insurmountable grandeur. A potentially life-threatening being yet still undeniably innocent. Itachi couldn't say for sure why it was he waited here at the Kazekage's door for the red-head's return but if he had to guess it would be to have another session that relieved him of the turmoil that abounds. A simple matter of normal conversation that shinobi take for advantage day by day meant a great deal more to the ( ... )

Trudging was never something Gaara caught himself doing before. His posture for some reason had always remained excellent no matter what the circumstances. But on this night, the Kazekage trudged at a begrudgingly slow pace down the hallway that led to his office. With his pale gaze downcast to the floor in front of him, he almost didn't take notice to a body standing at the door; immediately assuming it to be a bodyguard shinobi and prepared himself for a halfhearted lecture of how going outside alone was extremely dangerous. Only at hearing an instantly recognizable voice did Gaara lift his head, murmuring in a bit of amazement, "Itachi.. it's you." Realizing now that he'd been walking with his hand still positioned as if his heart was something to be held, the Kazekage slowly lowered his arm back to his side as he slowed his pace to a halt. Strange how a little of that anxiety he was previously plagued with seemed to slip away at the mere sight of him ( ... )

Across the room stood Itachi, who was leaning casually against the frame of the office door, watching the display unfold before him. Straight to business, He mentally noted as onyx pools carefully followed the red-head's almost procedural movements behind the desk. The dark haired shinobi remained as serene as ever, not allowing any true emotion to grace his lips: especially the sardonic curl that wanted to show at Gaara's carelessly directed words. He only made a guttural noise of affirmation to Gaara being 'well'. Nothing about how the young man looked just moments ago supported that lie but if Gaara was not willing to admit so himself, there was nothing Itachi could do: except observe and be mindful of anything amiss.
Hn, There was much the Kazekage could do for him, all of which out of the question for now. The younger male's absence of realizing his open-ended question only proved Itachi's silent claim of Gaara's innocence. The lithe body locking one hand in the other almost came of as infallible, a higher being who cannot be ( ... )
