I have also struggled with depression for as long as I can remember. It may be a physical chemical imbalance or the effect of wrong spiritual influences, but I believe it's a combination of both. Since leaving the Mormon church when I was 17 I have had a really rough time sorting it all out and getting rid of mental illness. I started out as Schizophrenic, then Bi-polar and now (even after months of no medication due to lack of insurance) I seem to only have mild depression from time to time! I am getting stronger all the time and learning day to day in my walk with the Lord. Praise Him! I believe there is a way out of depression. Thanks for taking the time to write.
'Mental Illness' seems to have such a negative stigma about it, I like to think of it as 'Mental Confusion' and quite often I have to remind myself that thoughts are just that... thoughts... and have no real power unless we let them. Yep sometimes I think I am going bananas too.
Of course I rely heavily on my medication which is a real god-send, and a supportive partner makes all the difference too.
